I found this thing I dont know what it is! But its all RUSTY and now caused a rust stain on my C! I'm super poed right now! Contacting the dealer as we speak!
The first pic looks like it could be something to hold the weather stripping in. Hope you get this fixed! What part of the car is the 2nd pic?
It's a single edge razor blade. It is often used to scrape sticky labels off surfaces like glass. Deb
I'd be willing to guess that that rust on top of the paint will probably rub/buff right off. I wonder if there are any empty beer cans in your door panels too though ron
Just to be on the safe side I would take a look at your left taillight and see if you got anything in there.
Did you try moistening it first? The rust on the paint is just from the razor blade itself and not the underlying metal. If it was there long enough it could have stained the surface of the paint a bit, but it's quite possible that they can remove it though. It's certainly just a random occurrence that was inadvertently dropped and missed. Like was said, those single edge razor blades are used in scraping tools where the blades are changed frequently as they get dulled quickly. ron
No I didnt I didnt want to touch it. They have a paint guy there on Monday I'm taking it in first day monday morning!! Response to your second quote Yeah I dont like sharp things like knifes and razors they scare me lol so I try not to use them lol
I suppose with a new vehicle, I'd be upset as well. But I would urge the OP to try to keep level perspective. It's very likely that the appearance of the razor blade and rust have little or nothing to do with anyone on the dealership level. It might go all the way back to assembly in Japan...or receiving in The US. It shouldn't of happened...but people use razor blades...and occasionally they get dropped. It also appears to be a very recoverable reality. That doesn't appear to be major or permanent damage. I can sympathize, as when I get a brand new vehicle, for the first 2-4 months, I'm hyperly attentive to everything. Take a deep breath though....I think everything is going to be alright. The good thing is you found the razor blade without it hurting you or anyone.
Here's an example of the culprit in it's native state And this is exactly like a holder I have had for decades Hopefully they will be able to buff it out completely for you. Good Luck! ron
I'm not THAT upset! Its just my luck I buy my first new car and whataya know? a razor blade lol. The dealer said no one there would of used it. I agree it must of happened at the factory. the great thing is they are fixing it Monday morning first thing! Just as long as we get it taken care of we shall be ok I take care of my stuff and want it to last a long time! Still a great car still enjoying every minute of it of everyday and im getting 47 MPG.
haha that little bastard lol. it could always be worse I guess! It could of got in my tire or something. but yeah like I mentioned they are taking care of it monday
That's great. If I misjudged the level that you were upset? Well it was the 38 frowning upset Smilies you attached to your original post that threw me off... No harm, no foul...glad to hear you are getting resolution. And I understand, I take care of my vehicles on a probably overly attentative level. I've had vehicles parked outside their entire existence, that people mistake for being brand new, after 5 years. So if I bought a new vehicle and discovered that? I'd probably be upset as well.. Maybe not 38 frowning Smilies upset...but upset.
Maybe we could put it on Ebay: "Rare - Genuine Toyota Single Edged Adhesive Removal Tool" Seriously - I'm glad the dealership is taking care of the rust stain. Probably at the factory - takes a little time for the blade to rust and stain the paint. You're getting better MPG than me : A/C always on, ECO always off, P&G?-what's that?
Too funny! How long were our Prius' on the ships from Japan? Long enough for salty air to rust unpainted/unprotected metal, like razor blades. I'm glad you didn't find the little sucker a more unsavory way! It should be an easy fix. Deb
Does the razor blade in question have country of origin or made in stamp on it? Posted from my iPhone via the Tapatalk app.
