Hey everyone, I'm Robert, currently stationed at Travis AFB and I just bought a 2012 Prius II, got it with 3 miles on the odometer. It's nautical blue with dark grey interior which took me forever to find one in that color combo; currently have on order Eibach Pro lowering springs, sharkfin ant and 35% Tint all the way around. I'm looking into wheel/tire upgrades as well as aftermarket taillights. I also detail cars so I was happy to see how good the condition of the paint on this car was, i specifically asked for the dealership not to touch the car so there would be no "fillers" on the paint covering the swirls they embedded into the paint. So enough about me, just wanted to say hi and I'm hoping to meet and/or chat with ya'll on here. Take care. Robert
Hi Robert! I'm pretty new to the forum and Prius ownership myself. Picked mine up 3 weeks ago today when it had 2 miles on it. Driving here - Pacific Grove - is strictly around town and I'm averaging close to 50mpg through some 650 miles of driving. Very nice car.
Welcome to the forum! I was born and raised in Fairfield/Suisun. Then I got the hell out of there! Hahaha If you plan on doing stereo upgrades check out my buddy's shop in town (Audio & Performance Systems). I even have some of my high end equipment sitting in storage there if you are interested. I'm about to list it on Craigslist.
F8L, I've been here about 5 years now and I like the area, I'll definetly check out your buddy's shop once I start looking into speaker upgrades, which shouldn't be too long from now, lol. Hopefully there will be another NorCal meet cause I'm definetly down to meet up, BBQ, or whatever.. Sorry just got back from a deployment last week so I'm ready to get this summer into swing. Robert
Robert...fellow AF guy here...stationed at Eglin. Funny you told your dealer not to touch the car. I did the same. Every time I called the dealership and told them who was calling, the person on the other end of the line said " Don't wash it, don't buff it, no dealership stickers...we got it". Everyone at the dealership knew not to touch it. I did let them shine the tires though. I hate swirling and marring with a passion!
Welcome aboard (and back from deployment), Robert. Cool color combo. As far as aftermarket tail lights, check out the Valenti's. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-jdm-full-led-tail-lamps-twp.html#post1359492
Welcome! Congrats on the car. If you need a good tint shop, there are a couple in the East Bay that are fantastic.
Randy, personally I'll be doing a full correction on the paint this weekend and applying a product called Opti-coat 2.0 since this is my daily driver and probably will be putting protective film on the front of the car to protect from rock chips... I probably have over 100 different waxes and paint sealants in my garage but my go to would be Blackfire's Wet Diamond paint sealant, check it out
Also, to Everyone on here, thank you for the warm welcome I'm hoping to be a helpful member of this forum especially in the car care department take care everyone Robert
Welcome new guy and thanks for your service. There is a great video I saw yesterday about a guy doing a correction on an older black Kia. Used an Optimum compound (of some sort, Ultra? i think) came out great. I am new to the detail bit as a hobby on my own stuff. Got a griot's 6" and the 3" DA machines. recently rec'd the Wolfgang 3.0 sealant and have some paint glaze, pads, and such coming. Will be trying it all out first of next week. have fun , relax
Thank you and congrats on ur new polishers. I own both of those, as well as PCXP, Flex 3401 and PE-14 rotary. Be sure not to get your car wet for about 24 hours after applying the Wolfgang 3.0, if you ever want any advice on how to use any of your equipment, lemme know. Robert
