I lent my Prius to a friend, who returned it with a small cigarette burn on the driver's side armrest (the fabric portion). My interior is beige, so it is quite visible. I want to replace the fabric. Anyone done this before? Do I just take it in to the dealer and ask them to do it? How much will it cost? And yes, they have offered to pay! Thanks all!
I've had the control switch part of the armrests off the front doors more than I want to think about while upgrading the speakers. It's easy to do. Take a look at the posting by ~sparky~ related to speaker replacement. The biggest problem is that when you pull the tweeter enclosure you might loose the little spring clip down into the guts of the door never to be seen again. (They are like socks at the laundramat.) Everything related to the armrests just kind of snaps together but you'll have to remove the whole interior door panel. (It just pops off the puch-in plastic attachments.) Getting the replacement fabric part from Toyota might be a bit of a trick.
Another option is leather arm rest covers. I got mine from Robin on eBay. They are great and will probably cost less than replacemant fabric through the dealer. She has some tan covers available at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyota-Priu...023277331QQrdZ1
I don't have leather seats, but this leather center console cover sounds really good. She also has it in gray now. I'm wondering how it would look to have just that in leather, or whether I should get the full armrest set as well. -Roger
I don't have leather seats and have the beige interior and black armrest and console cover covers. The look good.
