Had to put my first tank of gas into the PIP today. $35.00 and had 650 miles logged on the ODO Would love to hear how many miles you were able to log until you had to fill.
Check out the spreadsheet many of us have been contributing to.. that will give you an idea. So far the record holder is iRun26.2.. his first tank took him 1,613.5 miles. However, I know there are also quite a few owners here that have yet to get gas. 702 miles, however it was not empty, still had 2 pips on the gauge, it was just time, since it was 2 full weeks (used to gas up my 2010 every week), plus I wanted to make my first entry to Fuelly I would add myself to the google spreadsheet, but doesn't look simple... I did take a picture of the EV/HV display at the first fillup (before resetting it) I am on Fuelly, I added the KWH to the "notes", perhaps we can come up with a standard way to enter the EV/HV screen to the "notes" field in Fuelly, then you will be able to get that data onto the google spreadsheet.. Just a thought.
My first fill up was from all highway driving whereas I drove to New York State from Michigan in my Corolla then drove back to Michigan, total miles at fill up: 373.4 miles. gallons of gas consumed: 7.441. calculated mpg: 50.16mpg also, my tank was not empty: 3 pip's
We haven't had to fill up yet. 1320 miles so far. Won't be long, though, since we only have 42 miles of range left, apparently.

I've had three fill-ups and calculated at the pump was right on with indicated consumption in the car. 540 miles @ 59MPG indicated w/ 9.15 gallons pumped 722 mile @ 75MPG indicated w/ 9.61 gallons pumped 820 miles @ 91 MPG indicated w/ 9.17 gallons pumped three clicks after auto shutoffl!!!!!! Obviously, my EV ratio is higher with each tank.
I drove 1039 miles before filling up, and had about 2 gallons of gas left but did not know about it due to the inaccurate gas gauge. I could have added another 50-70 miles, but it is not worth taking a chance and run out of gas on a Prius. I'd rather fill up too soon and not risk damaging the vehicle.
Sort of off-topic, but, were they called '"pip's" before the Plug-in Prius came along? I'm just curious...

Drove 535 miles and still had one bar. It took 8.5 gallons to fill (8.4 when nozzle automatically shut off). This works out to 63 mpg, which is just about what the display said. Since many of the miles were on two medium length trips and most of the other miles were driven by my wife (who could care less about the mpg -- she often got 36 to 38 mpg on our 2005 Prius), then I am quite satisfied with the results. On the new tank, we are more like 80 mpg. It really depends on the length of trip you take. We will not try to maximize the mpg on the PIP. We will try to minimize our total gas used. The 2005 Prius is now with my daughter. Our other car is a Subaru Outback that averages 22-24 mpg. So, our overall strategy means that whoever drives the furthest that day (usually my wife) drives the PIP.
