I recently purchased the Yokohama YK580 195/65R15 91H for my 2010. I feel as though my mpg has been compromised, can anyone tell me if this is the right tire for my car?

It does not appear to be a low-rolling resistance tire...

So if you want a nice quite tire, with good handling, you got the right tire. If you want to retain the fuel economy, you got the wrong one.

Hard, stiff tire rolls more easily, which improves had mileage. That's why they tell you to always check your tire inflation for best mileage.

Spongier, softer tire = Quieter, softer ride, but fuel economy is reduced because it takes more energy to roll the tire forward; it has higher rolling resistance.

The tires that the salesman at America's Tire sold you were optimized for handling and traction, not fuel economy.

To get your mpg back, ask them to locate you a set of Michelin Energy Saver A/S (NOT the energy saver) or Bridgestone Ecopia EP422. You may have to pay the $70 mount/balance fee again though.

I have the energy saver a/s, I think they are on par if not slightly lower than OEM, not anything that caught my eyes.

I disagree, I am seeing about an 8% increase over the OE tires.

Most would agree the Energy Saver A/S is better than OEM for fuel efficiency even when they are brand new. One must take tire wear into consideration. If you wear out your OE tire then replace it with the same exact model you will experience a mpg loss until they are broken in and worn down similar to the tire you replaced.

Don't get the Continentals if you're worried about MPG's. I just put a set on and am down at LEAST 3 MPG .... down 4 this tankful to 43.91. Granted .... they aren't broken in yet, so I'm hoping to only be down 2 after break-in. They do handle far better than the OEMS, especially in the rain.
