I have a deposit on a 2006 Prius with package 7; but just found that package 8 with leather is available in the tri-state NY region on the toyota website. However, dealers cannot find any cars available with leather yet. Anyone know where I can find one, and maybe have it delivered to NY if the leather package won't be available here for awhile?
My dealer here in PA is trading a package # 8 leather for a # 3 with a NY dealer. Out of region trading!! Said the car should be in this week or so.

Hi Spinjunkie: I have a deposit at Westbury Toyota; my prius is supposed to be in next week. They have been very accommodating to me, had a great test drive last week, and the salesman spent about an hour with me showing the features of the car.
Why does thier need to be a package 8? Isn't the package 8 the same as 7 except with leather. I think 2004 and 2005 had it right. One should be able to add leather to any package. It is a dealer installed item most of the time (or they contract it out) I would imagine most dealers would sell you a package 7 then add leather for the $1200 upgrade.
Dealers can trade outside their region for the package and color combination you want, but you sometimes have to push them to do it. Lots of dealers just prefer to sit back and let Toyota hand them allocated units and not have to go through the work of doing a lot or manufacture search. Ask for that and see what response you get.
What dealer did you buy from in Scranton? Back in 11/03 I bought my Prius from Gibbons Toyota. Nice people...EZ deal. I used to have a little chalet up by Lake Wallenpaupack. Sold it last year .
That's my dealer too,,Gibbon's. Yes very nice people, they are going the extra mile to trade with the NY region. To bad about the chalet, very nice area. We went fishing there a few times.
