Hybrid cars losing steam in US - Americas - Al Jazeera English "Study shows most petrol-electric vehicle owners would rather return to traditional cars due to high maintenance costs." Al Jazeera is always good for a chuckle.
Good lord! Sigh... more and more news sources keep picking up on the dubious Polk "study". Who knows what these "high maintenance costs" are? I guess if people who don't know any better keep hearing it, they'll think it's true. Seems like there's a smear campaign going on.
Maintenance on these things is a pain! I gotta change the oil every 10,000 miles, not to mention putting in windshield washer fluid a couple times a year! Jeeze!
Lets see, OPEC writes a stupid article about a car that need way less oil products, Al Jazeera having used all the stories it had on bashing Bush, America, Popular Jihad events, had some space left over. It filled it with this little fluff piece to make Toyota think its HSD strategy is a bust! What surprises me is Al J beat The National Enquirer, and CNN to the scoop!
Three weeks late doesn't count as a scoop. I see at least 6 other threads here reporting or commenting about the dubious Polk study for tsunami-production-hampered 2011. The stories started April 9, just after we saw the record breaking hybrid sales of March 2012.

High-maintenance? I can get that. I replace the battery in my Prius every 10-15k miles at a cost of $5k!
You guys laugh, but in my case it's true. When I was younger, I bought and drove several different conventional vehicles. Since buying my Prius in '04, I haven't bought another hybrid since!
