So I am seeing 10.6 every morning now as my 'full charge.' But, I am able to get more like 14-15 miles of EV using regen.
One week today, still driving on dealers tank-up. My morning charge always appears to be at 12.2. Yesterday I took a mini-trip and got a combined total of 21 miles EV. Was able to charge at destination, but I am not sure of total EV range returning. Terrain To: gentle uphill. Returning: gentle downhill. I did use the AC returning, lightly. On both segments I got 264 mpg; am assuming that is MPGe . After being home about one hour, no charge, I let my neighbor drive in the residential area and he got 134 mpg, no (e) The HSI screens are not crystal clear on mpg VS MPGe, total EV range (when driving) Not only mind boggeling, but dangerous. Usually I wait til end of trip to ponder all this info. Speeds maintained: posted speed limits on surface streets, and 56 mph on freeway. Conservative acceleration! I am impressed!
My EV range when fully charged (as displayed) has been dropping steadily since I got the car three weeks ago. I can't respond to the poll as it's now below 10 (9.9 yesterday). The dealer checked this and said, 'it's normal." For what it's worth, I seem to be getting about 12 or so miles before the battery runs out and EV mode terminates. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.
Yes stop worrying, it's a computer estimate. Your real Ev mileage is 12 or so miles. A few here have disconnected their 12 v batteries and said this reset the EV estimate mileage back into the 13 mile range!
Yup.. I disconnected my battery maybe 3 weeks ago? It "reset" the estimate back to 13.4 on a full charge. With my driving pattern from the past few weeks factored in, it has dropped to as low as 12.4 but this morning was back to 12.6. Just to restate what everyone has been saying, don't worry about the estimate. I know, and agree, it is hard to ignore.. but regardless of what my estimate has ever said (anywhere from 11.2 to 13.4), I always make it to work on all EV (13.2 miles now) with about 1.6-2.2 miles of EV range left (which is pretty consistent for me considering there are something like 15 traffic lights I drive through).
OK, I have had my PIP for a little over a week. On my first charge I got 13.1. It droped to 12.9 and has been rising ever since. Today it is reading 14.7. My drive to work is 25 miles. I charge at home and at work. Sometimes I charge after work along the way home too if I stop and shop. I love california here in the bay area for all the free charging stations. I have BLINK at work. But I also use ChargePoint and SemaCharge too. I am getting 164 MPG to work and 190 MPG going home. I have a ScanGauge which shows the full charge of 85.4%. This value never changes so I expect the EV range keeps going up based on my driving.
$200 is pretty amazing! An electrician told me that installing a larger panel to add a second meter would cost upwards of $2000, before the free installation of that meter by SCE. What kind of panel do you have? Thanks.
Some of you disconnected the battery. Can you say if doing so resets something else, the custom things in setup, like time etc, trips, navigation memory etc...
The trip odometers and EV driving ratio screens were reset. Radio presets and saved navigation addresses were not. The MFD calendar/date was reset, but the monthly MPG/mileage screen data was not. The clock was reset too. I think thats all I checked.. anything else I may have missed?
I'd like to hear more details, but this is getting OT so could you please reply in this thread? Thanks. :focus:
I disconnected before a full charge. It was out of EV range. I disconnected the battery, reconnected and then charged the battery to full.
OOhh...I am sooo electrically challenged! I'll get back to you with that answer. I don't think they had to install another panel, because I believe we already have two. We bought this house almost two years ago - it was originally built in 1948 but was bought by a contractor in 1986 and he totally gutted it to the studs and re-built and expanded it, adding all new electrical, among other systems.
First time resetting the trip and checking.. Trolling around town (no freeway) got roughly 14.5-15 miles before HV mode kicked in. Probably would have been higher if I avoided the 45mph blvds/aves and stayed on the 35mph streets. Tires are at 40/40 right now
I did a test today. Fully charged showed 11.2. Drove on EV until the switch - 14 miles. I guess, I am no longer interested in knowing how much it shows after the full charge. It gives you more, afterall. So those numbers are conservative, computer calculated estimates.
Mine continues to climb up as I do more EV driving instead of HV. 12.6 miles now, much higher than the 11.2 miles I saw a few weeks ago following my long-distance almost all HV trip.
I measured mine a little differently the past few days, and I would welcome comments or critiques on the method. Because my route is EXACTLY the same every day, and because I can pretty much control my own technique, I've been measuring how much EV charge is left at the end of my round trip. When I started two weeks ago, I always had between 1 and 1.5 miles left when I pulled into my driveway. For the past week, this number has climbed steadily until today, I had 6.5 miles of EV range left. Every morning, my predicted range has been between 13.1 and 13.4 miles. But at the end of every day so far this week, the computer has been steadily increasing how much range is left.
If i turn off the climate control at startup, I consistently see 14.3 - 14.4 miles of EV range when fully charged. I guess I'm doing pretty good!
