Any cheap ideas (like under $50) to get some lumbar support for the front two seats on the car. These seats are alright for short 20-30 minute drives but more than that just kills my back. And I have a 3,000 mile drive in June!
I had the same issue. In another post someone mentioned a mesh support sold by walgreens (10 dollars) and I got one that just did not give enough support. I then bought one at Bed Bath and Beyond that was sold as a mesh back support for regular chairs. Put in in my Prius and have not taken it out since. I do have to readjust it every once in awhile since it tends to move around on the seat, but it seems to be a great 10 dollar solution to a real problem.
Just wanted to update you guys. This is a great fix to these horrible seats. The item is only $10 at your local Bed Bath And Beyond and works like a charm.
I just picked one of these up at the dollar store. My question is, is this bad for the side airbags? Won't they not deploy if the elastic band is around the seat? Also, the elastic cinches my seat really hard, and I'm worried it'll make a crease long term. Anyone else have this problem?
With my former Gen I and Gen II Prii, I found a very good bendable mid-back thingy at a chain called "HealthyBack". I don't see my very-useful-in-2003 product listed on their web site anymore. It was something akin to the "Keri" lumbar support, although not as fancy. It didn't look that it would interfere with the side air bags at all. I junked it with the arrival of my Advanced PiP as its seats are pretty good.
