Ok, so after driving my wife's Clearwater blue PIP from Maryland to Wisconsin (1000 mile w/ 53 mpg avg), I have to say we are very impressed with this car - our first Prius! However, one thing I haven't been able to figure out (through hands on testing and searching archives from this forum) is why the calendar, messaging, and picture tabs are greyed out from page two of the Entune apps. We have the basic PIP and have tried both iPhone 4 & 4s via USB. Also, I was under the impression that iheartradio, opentable, and the movie apps would all be available for the basic version. Thanks to all in this community who have made our ownership so enjoyable!
Check this link to find out what features would be compatible with the Entune and your phone: Toyota.com - Connect I just checked and it said that the apps you mentioned are Not Tested, and I am not sure what that means- it does not say Not Compatible. . . You may want to call for Help: Phone: 800-331-4331 Also, I just found this: How do I manage my third-party accounts? To optimally use MovieTickets.com, OpenTable® and Pandora® for Entune™, you must have an account on each of the sites. You then link those accounts to your Entune™ account to enable access to your personal preferences, settings and saved data. Why are my Entune™ apps not working? There are a variety of reasons that your Entune™ apps may not be working properly. Please check that your Bluetooth® is turned on and that you have paired your audio unit with your phone. If you are still having trouble, please visit http://myentune.com for more troubleshooting tips.
Make sure you have registered for Entune online, installed the Entune app and have it running on the iPhone. Only then will the Prius Plug-in be able to use the iPhone's internet connection for the Entune apps.
We have Paired the phones to the car and registered and enabled the Entunes app on the phone once getting in the car. So we are connected to the Internet and have access to Bing, traffic, but not calendars, pics, or text/e-mail greyed out buttons. I just went back into my Entune acct and see the Bing and Pandora links, but don't see where I can link up the opentable or iheartradio apps (which I have on my iPhone). They just don't show up on the cars Nav screen - not even as a greyed out app. Maybe Apple or Toyota still have work to do to make this all work? Thanks for all the comments. I will keep trying and share if I am able to uncover a solution.
My dealer told me before I even got into the car that messaging, calendar, etc did not work YET. She also said that improvements were under way that would allow internet connection with bluetooth and not needing to plug into usb every time.
I think OpenTable, iheartradio, and MovieTickets.com are on the Advanced model only. I recall reading someone's experience here with iheartradio (I think it was PRPrius) and he has an Advanced. I'm sure other Advanced owners will chime in. I also thought they would be part of Entune. I didnt think the Entune apps (aside from the Advanced specific apps, like charge management and climate control) were model-dependent. The messaging on the radio wont work with the iPhone. Apple doesnt support the MAP (message access profile) protocol on the iPhone. There are lots of complaints about this. I'm not sure about the Calendar or the Photos though.
Text/email does not work with iPhones. Apple doesn't support the protocol that's needed to communicate with the car. ETA: Ahh, Tracksyde - you beat me
Its OK, it can't be said enough . Its such a huge disappointment that it doesnt work on the iPhone. I was really looking forward to that feature too.
