Can anyone tell me if the windows on the 2006 Prius are tinted? My Lexus has tinted rear and back windows that I really like. I test-drove a 2005 Prius a couple of months ago and can't for the life of me remember whether there was tinting. If not, is tinting an after-market option? (I apologize in advance if there is already a post on this).
Very lightly...not enough IMO...I think a darker tint looks great on the Prius. Also, the tiny bottom window on the hatch has a somewhat darker sort of amber tint.
There is this new '06 JDM option for the Prius' rear windows. Looks like all pre-cut to fit the panes perfectly. You can choose between Smoke & Clear tint. But '06 JDM parts won't come out until some time in Dec.
I learned a bit about window tinting tonight from the Accutint shop in downtown Seattle. They did a good job of installing the 3M paint protection kit for me. Nathan said that my 06 prius has a tinting of about 60% and that most of the requests are for a tinting of 15-20% (way darker). In Washington State 35% is legal, but doesn't look as cool! Nathan's running a discount through March of a Prius window tint for $250. He says the retail price is $299. I'm thinking about this but would like to see some comparison pics of different tint levels. Maybe there's a web site? tinting is always an aftermarket option just find a good shop and some quality tint. i have had tint since summer and love it.
Has anyone had any troubles with navigation after they have tinted the windows with a flim that contains metal? The manual advises against tinting to prevent interference with the GPS. Comments?
i don't have nav, but i got carbon-dyed tint and love it. most people don't have trouble with metal tint, from what i've seen here on PC.
The metallic tints are typically regarded as the cheap tints of lower quality. I had my windows tinted at the dealership. They use a pretty decent tint, I would say it's a better quality than the average after market tint. Not sure what it costs as I had it thrown in as part of the deal. I am guessing about $300.
