Morning, When I originally placed my online order in November, I ordered the Paint Protection Film for 395.00 In February I was contacted by corporate that their were some confusion on what was being protected, and was told that I would be reimbursed by corporate for the film. ( Perfect, I save 400.00) When I picked up my car, no film. I told the dealer I ordered it, and it was reimburseable. The dealer was like great, who pays for the labor ? Im like, here we go again... I called corporate explained the car never came with what I had ordered, they confirmed and worked it out with the dealer for me to get complete clear bra protection for my inconvenience. They did a great job, you cannot tell unless you look for the seams. Wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if so, how it was rectified? -Mike
I paid for the film and it came only on the hood. Toyota Corporate called to apologized for the mix-up and reimbursed my $400+tax. Now that I have the hood, I have to decide whether to install clear bra for the bumper, fenders and mirrors.
On the cars I delivered with it, as paltry as it was initially, the national folks rectified it. On the cars that I had in PORT or still afloat, I remove the option code from all the incoming cars and emailed everyone to say I was doing this, and why. $395 for the hood, side fender flaps, and the full frontal bumper area is one thing. $395 for the 1/2 hood and small side flaps is just too much for too little protection.. and although it was an error in description on the Toyota main website, and nothing they meant to do, it was best just deleted from the PHEVs that were in my control. It lowered the MSRP $395 and thus no one felt cheated paying $395 for some small paint protection pieces. Those who did have the paint protection front port (the early cars) were contacted by Toyota and refunded. I am speaking from experience. In all of this PPO paint protection drama, I only had one buyer who was - to my amazement - really - difficult about getting this item even though I deleted it and they didn't pay for it. Some days, you cannot win!
To be fair, I thought it was extremely generous for Toyota Corporate to refund the entire amount. Coincidentally, I just repainted the hood of my six years old van because of paint chips from regular wear and tear and the result is day and night. I am now thinking of putting the film on only the van's hood just because I know how much abuse the hood gets. Anyway, now I have the PIP hood covered, I have to decide how much of the rest of the car I want to add film to! Or at least find out how much I can cover with $400
This is why we buy from Dianne. She looks out for her clients in ways that no other dealer can even come close to doing. I should have known that $395 would not cover much. When I had my '09 Prius done, it was almost $600. It covered half hood, half of the front fenders, and the entire front bumpers - as well as mirrors and lights. However, I got a ding in a fender, and it had to be replaced. So that fender was without protection. Then, because the body shop had to blend the fender with the door and the hood, there went the hood protection. However, the entire paint job + blend ended up being less than $400. So what I learned from all of that was to go without this time and pay to have hood/fenders repainted in 3-4 years if they end up being a dinged up mess. Or I may just not worry about it. It IS a Prius, after all. LOL
I ordered the outside film only, since I have no garage. I did not want the inside protection, since it contains fire retardants and other chemicals. That feature only saved me $20. Still, after they finished the job, they called me and stated "both outside and inside are done!". Oh well.
