I have a 2012 Prius 4 and my usb connected ipod skips. I've tried 2 different usb cables and 3 different ipods. I also tried the vehicle in different driving modes (ECO, Power, EV) and the ipod skips every time. However the iPod works perfectly when using the aux jack. I took the car into the dealer and they applied a software update but the skipping persists. The dealer tried the ipod in another 2012 Prius and it skipped. They admits there is a problem but the dealer says nothing can be done until Toyota technical support gets enough complaints that they come up with a fix.
What kind of iPod do you have? I had that same problem with an older 60 Gb hard drive iPod. It would skip every few minutes. I could not find any solution to the problem, but I recently bought a 16 GB iPod Nano and have not had the problem since. It was time for the old iPod to retire anyway. My only thought was that the older models may be unable to buffer enough data to keep up continuous play through the system interface. That's just a guess (and probably wrong)... Daryl
Daryl-- I have a new 16 GB nano and a 60 GB older iPod. The skipping occurs no matter which one I use.
How much and how often does it skip? I have been listening to an audio book on an 8GB nano on my 2012 C. It skips a few seconds once in a while. Maybe 6 times throughout a 10 hour audio book.
I had the same issue (both with my iPhone and iPod touch) when I first got my Prius. I've since swap out the iPod cable and 'rebooted' both devices and have not run into the skipping issue.
I haven't had this problem at all with my iPod classic. I did with my iPod Touch until I noticed that I still had "shake to shuffle" turned on. So every time I went over a bump it thought it was being shaken and it started a new song. Since I turned that off, it's been fine. No problem at all.
I have the same problem in a 2012 Prius Plugin with Display Audio. I'm using a brand-new Ipod Classic with Apple Lossless files. The audio drops out briefly once or twice an hour. Replaying the track will play it without skipping. To poster whose dealer said Toyota needs hear more complaints, is there an email or an online form to submit them?
