So, after doing math, finding 1.9%, and figuring the C3 is the lowest version that comes with the pretty screen (yes?), and with edmunds saying invoice on the C3 is 20,900. I hope to get $8k (probably by myself) on my current vehicle, I'd be left with a loan (after an additional down payment of $1k) of $13,895. Bottom line is the most I can swing for a 3 is 21k. (including destination fee, but I refuse all other fees...ie: dealer), and the $13895 includes taxes. What do you think? Can I get a 3, out the door, for $21895?
Yeah its possible, the dealer I was dealing with was trying to get me a 3 for 21900 Oh wait, you want the OTD price. I didn't consider destination yet. But I think with some haggling it'll work.
I don't think there is much incentive out there for the dealers to be negotiating off of MSRP. Limited supply + high demand.
I waste my time with haggling!! Mine was 23,860 sticker. After the extended warranty and taxes about 26,000
I don't know what your sales tax rate is, but here in Oregon there is no sales tax, but we do have a 9% income tax so there is no free lunch. Even if the dealer sells you the car at dealer invoice the dealer still makes a profit by kick backs from Toyota. The more cars a dealer sells the higher percentage of kick back. Find the biggest dealer you can and one will probably come down to your price, maybe not all the way but dealer invoice possibly. Keep in mind the economy is still crippled no matter where you are in the country except for Alaska and North Dakota.
Offering under-invoice (with mats) "out the door" on a car in high demand with little profit margin and small holdback is probably what's not going to compute!
Just to be sure... What do you mean by "Pretty Screen"? The Prius c 3, is the first level that steps up to the Display Audio with Navigation and Entune, which gives you a 6.1 inch touchscreen where your radio would be.... But all Prius c's come with the 3.5 inch color multi-information screen...on the dash. If the former is the "Pretty Screen" you desire...then I believe you are correct. If the latter? You could step down...to "Any" Prius c.
Well, elec, you just saved me more! Dianne, I don't need mats, thus the invoice is 20,900 including destination fee. My taxes would be around $895. So, $21, 895 isn't under invoice; it's $100 over invoice. A bit off topic, I suppose, but once a dealer offered to sell me a car for $1 over invoice. He was, however, unaware that I knew the *actual* invoice price, and so when I arrived to purchase, he backed out, complete with a GM coming over with a flurry of papers trying to confuse me. We walked out. Went to another dealer. Let them know the story and what we would pay. Invoice. Got the car.
I've only looked at two Prius C's, but as far as the "profit margin," the prices they were listed for at the dealer appeared to contain a lot of profit. On a $21K car, added was "Toyoguard" for $700, and the famous ADM of $2K, which is just an acronym for additional dealer profit. So about 12.8% additional profit on that car at that dealer. Plus of course the profit, however small, they make selling at MSRP. (Now Carson Toyota might not resort to such ridiculousness, but many, many dealers do.)
Glad you got the car! I am trying to do the same thing. I have a price set in mind and have been contacting dealerships to see if there is any wiggle room.
