I did my first fill up today. After I got in the car and hit the power button, the car started up and the HSI screen flashed a fuel price screen that had "_ _ _" lines. It was there for just a split second and then went back to the regular display. I thought I've read here something about the car asking you to input what you paid for the gas? It didn't give me that chance. Did I do something wrong? Also, where would the car tell me how many MPG's I got for that tank? I know it will read higher than calculated, but I want to compare. Thanks!
Reset one of the trip odometers before a fill up (choose either A or B and hold the trip button down to reset it.) then check what it says just before filling up again so you can get a display, Vs. actual reading. Not sure about input of $ amount, I'd have to check the owners manual.
ohhhh, I always reset the trip AFTER i get back in the car. What do you mean "check what it says"? Says where? Thanks!
He means- check the trip odo just before you fill up the next time to get your total miles driven on that tank of gas.
Yup, "CONS" is the MPG since last trip odo reset. I use "Trip A" as overall from when I purchased the car (currently reads 50.5mpg). I use "Trip B" for each new tank of gas.
haha, i always do the opposite. Ok, thanks for clearing that up! Guess I'll check the manual again for inputting the amount. Not that I really need to do that, I use fuelly anyway. Just curious.
Just another use ... I use trip A for each tank, trip B for trips that do not begin or end with fills. Fuelly gives me overall MPG. Have to be careful to reset right odOmeter. ÃŽ
I use Trip A for each new tank of gas and Trip B I do not reset and I also use Fuelly. I input my price after each fill up too! You can do it by going to the "Setup" screen, by pressing the "Display" until the "Setup Menu" shows up then press and hold the "Display" button to get into the menu. >> Then press "Display" once to go down to "Gas Price" menu >> >> and then hold the "Display" button until it enters the gas price screen >> >> >> and use your "Display and Trip" button to go up and down in price and it will set after 5 seconds. I just filled up at lunch time and entered my most recent tank of gas! $3.79/gallon! 9.7 gallons and then I entered everything into Fuelly. I forgot to notate what my TRIP A MPG was though.. darn I'll have to remember to do that next time so that I can compare my calculated MPG to the Pri's MPG. Let me know if that worked!
On the fuelly notes I have also been entering the following info: - FCD (Fuel Cons Display) reading - % Diff to actual fuelly MPGs (FCD is always overstated) - Average MPH for that tank For instance on my last fuel up yesterday (Fuelly 53.8 mpg) I added: FCD 57.5 % Diff 6.9 MPH 39 This extra info just gives me some reference points for comparison down the line. Note: Anytime someone denotes their mpg on this site, whether it be for a trip, tank, etc., they should also mention their average mph. I think it will add a little more perspective to their mpg number. Getting 60 mpg at an average speed of 50 mph is a lot more impressive than at 30 mph.
How do I get my FCD to show up? My Trip A and B only shows miles and fuel cost on the far right. It doesn't show CONS?
I think you have to have the HSI screen up. What I call the FCD (Fuel Consumption Display) is the CONS. on the Trip screen. See attached picture.
