All, Does your Prius v make a servo or motor noise when you approach the driver's door and unlock it via the smart key (no key, touch only). My car makes the noise for at least 5 seconds and it is coming from the drivers side engine compartment. It only does it the first time I approach. It doesn't do it if I reenact the approach a second time and unlock. Not a problem, I'm just curious. Andy
It's the brake accumulator pump. The Prius uses an electrically powered brake booster, which it charges in anticipation of your use. Tom
Even freakier is I noticed one day I came into my garage after a few hours I think it was and the car was making some very strange sounds--not the servo one. I looked into it around here and found out that it was also normal.
That's the Prius language . . . Prius-ese . . . but some don't realize that it's their Prius talking to them. Soon there'll be a TV show about it. The Prius whisperer. .
LOL - thanks for the laugh! I have also noticed this noise and good to see confirmation that it's all normal for a prius. Have the car for less than a month now and noticed it the first week, but I assumed it was normal.
