I'm not really super knowledgeable about the Toyota Prius, but I do have one that may help others maintain their cars. It's a complete car diagnosed with a bad transaxle ($6500-$8500 quote from dealer). Thanks to this forum I learned that it can be fixed for far less than that (awesome forum!). But, alas, it will instead become an organ donor. I know, kinda like euthanizing your Aunt to harvest her body parts for organ donation when she's only got pneumonia, but that's the way it goes. Sorry Auntie, but you weren't our favorite anyway. Next time, put more than $5 in the birthday cards.

(I'm not a dealer, dismantler or otherwise in any sort of business-- I'm a public school teacher, if that matters to anyone).

HV Battery shows (or rather showed) 6 bars before I removed it, the exterior color is white, the interior is beige cloth (and only the driver's seat, door card and seat belt are worn/used). Engine runs fine and all is good until the transaxle gets warm and starts laughing it's evil laugh at me.

I'm in north San Diego county so relatively convenient for folks in So Cal to swing by and grab the bigger items like interior seats, battery rear hatch, bumpers and so on. Items that fit in a USPS flat rate box are my favorite for shipping out. Parts that AREN'T available are the ones that are needed to keep it rolling or looking complete while it sits in my driveway thanks to the HOA. (so if you want a big shape defining piece like the hood, rear hatch or even lights I need something that I can hammer out and put in the place of the damaged item to take up the space while it's under the carcover).

I can't sell the car as a complete car to someone as I've already promised a rolling carcass as a prop to a family member (but if you've got an accident damaged gen2 and want to swap trade up to this one with it's clear title we can work something out but I can't not have a roller to pass along).

Prices? do not know. basics say $500 for the HV battery, $500 for everything in the interior that's beige including seats, console, door cards, head liner, carpet, etc. Lights: $40-75 each with exchange of broken one. Otherwise, let me know what and how much you want it for. I'm not greedy. I don't like ebay or craigslist. If something is priced out of line above, let me know.

I prefer that this stuff goes to someone for his/her personal use and not for resale.

While I do not need parts, you have hit on a good way to piece out the Gen II.
eBay, if conducted properly is a huge market to move parts, you should reconsider that option. I however, do not like the Craigslist route. You never know who is going to show up.
Either way you choose, Good Luck!

Thanks. I may turn to ebay eventually, but it's not the easiest thing for me since I don't know what's what. First of all, there's no carburetor! My listing titles will end up being something like "that little black part under the hood on the rear left with 5 wires coming out of it" and "Plastic greasy thing that looks like a banana".

For clarification, I don't need exchange parts for any of the interior or under hood, computers, or stuff like that. Just the panels/pieces that help define the silhouette so door skins, hood, hatch lid skin, bumper covers and exterior lights. Only glass I need is the windshield and it can be cracked and chipped, just not shattered. Color of panels is unimportant since this one is white the other replacement panels can be whitewashed pretty easily so it still looks like a complete Prius from the stage.

Oh, and the email forum member thingie is active so you can just email me directly and I can respond with my phone number.

I believe the color is actually called, "greige", no?

Anyway, it's certainly more tan than grey. And the carpet isn't really something anyone would want. There were no floor mats and the driver side is more than worn, I guess you could say. The rest is excellent, but the driver's footwell not so much.

The big issue is I'll still need wheels on and for it. Not necessarily these wheels, but I certainly can't have it up on blocks (1) and the prop will still need to roll (2) to move it in and out. Probably the easiest short answer is No, but if you have an idea for a workaround, go ahead and email me.

Source out 4 spare tires? Would ride lower to the ground, but it rolls. ;)

On that note, got the rear hatch cover? How much do you want? Also, not sure of the weight, but I would need it shipped to 07644 (NJ). I might be able to send a FedEx label, but if you can figure out weight/dimensions (probably a long tube or golf club box) we can figure out who can do it cheaper. I'm good with USPS Snail mail as well... no rush.

Oh, and what about owners/maintenance/warranty manuals? I'd like an 07, but 08 would be good enough for me. Lastly, center arm rest cover. Need that for my brother's 04... Should be the same piece, but I have to confirm which color interior he has... Unfortunately, I think the Gray...

On a side note... what is wrong with your transaxle?

Considering it would cost ~$1500 to replace it with a used one and an '08 Prius, even with 100k miles would sell for at LEAST $8k in decent shape, I couldn't imagine you getting even close to $6,500 in "donor parts"... I realize this may kill my ability to get some cheap parts, but just tossing it out there...

Family is family, but $6500 is $6500... buy them a consolation surf and turf dinner. :)

I think a surf and turf dinner for the thousand or so in the family (keeping it local, ya know) will run way more than any $ I can raise by selling a running car. Bigger issue than $ is my integrity. The only way it could change hands as a complete car is if I got a complete accident-damaged roller carcass of the same body style in exchange, even one that's already been parted out. But I'd expect some money to change hands in addition to the roller.

If you mean the retractable cargo cover, it's NLA. If you mean the Carpeted cargo liner and spare tire lid, it's available. Center Console has no cover, just black plastic at this point. Door card arm rest covers are spoken for, as is the dash monitor. Shift knob is also gone now. No warranty/manual paperwork, sorry.

Large family... I'm a Kim also, but I don't think I consider all the Kims in the NY/NJ area family. :) Integrity is one thing, but consider that family member is getting a couple thousand dollar's worth of asset from you... Hope he/she's at least treating you to an all you can eat lobster dinner. :)

Too bad about the other things... The hunt continues...

I know you have promised this to a family member, but I will give you good money for this car. Thousands. Salvage yards and craigslist would yield offers in the thousands as well. I have a good transaxle just sitting in my shop, waiting for something to do. I don't have a carcass to trade out with, unfortunately. I don't think that you know what you are sitting on here. This isn't a dime-a-dozen minivan with a blown trans that is worth only $500.

Sorry, Mine is the 86110-47081 which I guess is just the base model one.

It's $150 including shipping within the continental US.

To Save from further confusion, I've learned that the color interior I have is officially called Bisque and came on 2007 2008 2009 2010 2001 2012 models.

If you have a 2006 or earlier car, the color interior I have is slightly different in most of the pieces. There are some crossovers in individual panels with beige, but overall they are to be considered different enough to not want to cross-pollinate.

The one I have is 86110-47230. As far as I can tell, it is not compatible with yours.

Bit the bullet: Listed a bunch of stuff on ebay.

If it's inappropriate to post that link, let me know and I'll yank it. If there's something on there that you need or want, go ahead and pm me. The car is completely stripped of what we don't intend to use / don't need, so let me know if we can help each other out.

Anyone local need the complete engine/(bad)transaxle, and ecu for a few hundred bucks?

Offering battery locally for $500 (not sure how to ship that thing safely-- just went though the airbag hazmat shipping fiasco and ended up basically paying someone to let me mail them an airbag!). A Reseller offered me $380 picked up and we think we should get a bit more than that.
