My wife dropped off her MB and picked up her 2012 prius 4 tonight! she walked through the door and I was excited to hear " so how do you like it!?"...she threw the key on the counter and said "it's like driving a tin can". and walked away. good purchase...it's been in the garage for four hours, I haven't even bothered to go look at it, I don't think she's gone out to play with it either! as my daughter would say, "whatevs"
I had a mb once, and it did give the feeling of rolling down the road in a bank vault. But it didn't get 50 mpg either. Oh well, congrats and welcome!
:welcome: I thought the same about my Prius on my first test drive. Then the salesman showed me the "power" button. I pretty much drive in that mode all the time. Welcome & I hope your wife learns to love her Prius.
Just wait till she's HOV lane zipping past all those hot rod MBs crawling at 5 MPH. I love it when I cruise past a Porsche, MB, BMW (especially them!), or a 300C SRT8 (like I used to have) that has blown past me to come to a dead stop on our version of hell, the LIE.
Well, I gotta ask, did she not even test drive the car, or one similar to it, before you guys purchased it?? I will grant her this , it is a bit "tinny" sounding in a few respects, maybe compared to the solid door closing sounds of a 1960's model Buick, but it is light years ahead in so many aspects , that the lightweight car thing falls to the wayside pretty fast. Maybe she just doesn't appreciate the tech aspect of all the features the way most of us here seem to, coming from a MB to a Prius is a fairly major jump ( a leap upward IMHO). Good luck, personally I am really like my 2012.
They are a bit of a shock when going from a luxury car - but I suppose any eco-small car would be. Closing the doors does not give that warm safe feeling that the MB doors convey.
hahaha well that's the thing, she drove it, she negotiated, she was so eager to close the deal she even took her second or third color choice. She's just not a "car person" or a "gadget person" so the things that appeal to me about the prius don't thrill her. She'll get used to it, it's just the complete ambivalence to this new purchase that irks me. Either way she had to get rid of the MB, bowing to political pressure at work!
Since there are so many of these threads I'll hijack this time. I also picked up my first Prius today. A regular 2012 winter grey w/dark grey interior, trim level two. I've read almost every post going back the last 4-5 months over the last couple days to get educated. I was able to teach the salesmen a couple new things too so hopefully other people will get better answers to their questions from him. Price was 24000+ TTL and my old Corolla trade in helped lower the price and my payments. I wanted to get a Prius seven years ago but it didn't work out so it's good to finally be behind the wheel of one. The Prius seems to be selling like hotcakes here and many dealers aren't even discounting so I got lucky (but it seems like others have had better luck in other regions).
