I wanted to say Hello everyone! My name is Tyler I'm 18 years old. I'm from Pittsburgh, PA. And on 04/21/2012 I bought a brand new 2012 Prius C in Super White level 3! At North Hills Toyota ( with the optional sunroof! ) I also bought the extended warranty too!. I thought it was a good price for 900 bucks. Hopefully it should be here in one to two weeks! After driving my grandpas 2011 Prius I was in love. And jealous of his 46.6 MPG! There once was a time when I DESPISED Toyota and everything they stood for. That has since changed now. I still think they make some bland cars. I currently drive a 1999 GMC Jimmy SLT that is getting 16.6 MPG no matter what I do to try to improve and according to fuelly.com that's better than most blazer/Jimmy/Bravada/S10/sonoma drivers lol. I really don't have a need for a SUV I towed with it twice and hauled furniture in it once. I don't have a need for utility and 4X4 which doesn't work most of the time anymore. I was originally going to get a Prius C TWO but my local Toyota dealer had sold it and they told me this one was coming in so I hurried up put a deposit on it and went down Saturday and got it. I can't wait to try the entune and the bluetooth. ( any one have any complaints about it?) Another thing I wanted to ask about was seat covers did anybody happen to buy a set? I take good care of my cars and want it to last a LONG time. Sorry for jumping all over the place lol. If you did read this in-full thank you! That's all I can think of for right now lol. I will keep everyone updated! :whoo:
Congrats on the new C. I came out of a 2005 Nissan Titan myself at about 15 mpg on a good day...:welcome:
I too went from a low mpg tank (14mpg GMC Sierra Z71) to a Prius back in 2005. You made a great choice. Thank you for doing your part in reducing fuel use and cleaning the air.
Congrats Tyler! Super White is Super Cool! That is what i got. But I kept low and went with the two. I have the Nav in our Prius 3.3 which is going to come in handy Glad for you to come aboard...stick around and read all about the C here!
I am too from Pittsburgh, and I am kind of in the same boat as TC400. I used to dislike Toyota also, but I have started to change my mind about them especially after learning about the Prius C. Right now, I drive my mother's old 1998 Mercedes-Benz C280, which gets around 21 mpg. Unfortunately, my mother felt it was "necessary" to get the V6 engine, just so she could go a couple of seconds faster. Sigh, anyways, it would be very nice to more than double my current mileage, but I do not think I'll be getting the Prius C until at least the end of the year.
So far we got 3 people from the burgh! We should start a meet up I see PS3 in your name you have a PS3? You can add me lol I'm TC400 on PSN Hope you get your C!
Yes, go Steelers! Technically, I don't have a PS3 as I have the fat, non-BC PlayStation 3 model, but that's just semantics. I do hope I can get the Prius C. I was considering the Chevrolet Sonic, but given GM's bad history with subcompacts, questionable reliability, and depreciation, it made me uncomfortable. Although, the Sonic is made in America, and it should be more comfortable, those are just not enough. Making the decision to eventually purchase the Prius C will be tricky to explain to my family, who consider the Mercedes-Benz, a small car. Plus, when one has a sister, who loves trucks and manual transmissions, that will be tough.
I'm a big GM guy I think the Chevy sonic is a good choice pretty impressive little car. Don't think it gets the mileage the C gets tho. Or maybe the Accent?
I am still a little skeptical of Hyundai even though they have made tremendous improvements over the past years. I forgot to mention that the Chevrolet Cruze received a poor rating in reliability, which unfortunately means the Sonic will probably be unreliable. Another vehicle I am considering is the upcoming Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid, but like the Sonic, it comes with reliability concerns, and given this will be Volkswagen's first hybrid, the battery cost will probably be insane at first. Not to mention, I have no idea how much the Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid will be. I think at best, it will be $24,000. Plus, the Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid will probably be manufactured in Mexico, which makes me very uncomfortable. Right now, the Toyota Prius C is in the lead with the Chevrolet Sonic and Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid in second and third place. Safety is a big concern for me, and using the regular Volkswagen Jetta for the Jetta Hybrid and the Toyota Yaris for the Prius C, all three have performed very well in safety tests. As for the Prius C, I am leaning towards the C4 trim level, primarily due to the softex seats.
Congrats, Tyler! You may very well be the youngest to join the forum and own a C, which to me isn't surprising as more than a few of us have owned an older Prius for years. You may fit perfectly into the demographic Toyota was hoping to sell the car to although I rather think there will be widespread appeal for the car from young to old! Will you customize your C3? If so, how and when you do, you'll have to share photos. I have tasked a local auto-artist with coming up with a slightly striking pin-stripe design for our C2 or 3 which will be delivered to him once we take delivery. We order the car soon!
Hey thanks! I think you are right. There are a few other 18 year olds on Here too. I don't plan on doing any mods or customization I think the only thing I may do is get the windows tinted. And yes you are right Toyota wanted to appeal to a younger crowd and let me tell you it worked!! They did a good job with safety and standard technology which is what i was looking for and mpg of course. Thats why I almost bought an elantra it too had a lot of no e goodies in the limited trim for not a lot of money. But I kept shopping and looking found This and I wasnt sold at first then I drove my grandpas Prius and that was it right there. I said I gotta get me one lol.
A Jetta a Hybrid interesting. I don't know how good they are. Still questioning their reliability Another thing I don't like about them is from the Jetta to the Passat they look to much a like! Can't tell the difference until you walk up and see the badge lol And they don't seem to be very impressive I'd PASS! One of the reasons I didn't go with the is because the softtex seats because I have leather in my current car it rips tears gets hot cold not something I want to deal with so I stuck with cloth and I'm not going to keep waiting around for a 4 trim either so I got the 3 which is even more than what I wanted but I know I will be happy. Or you could do what every other teenager does and get a civic
I believe the softex seats are synthetic leather, which is fake leather. Personally, I prefer to call it faux leather as it sounds fancy. But, I can attest to the longevity of fake leather as my mother's Mercedes-Benz has it, and after fifteen years, they still look like new with no cracks at all. You do have a point there about the Jetta looking too much alike the Passat; I am still wondering why Volkswagen did that. I am not exactly a teenager; about three years too old, and I want something that will stand out, well at least stand out a little bit more than a run-of-the-mill car like the Civic.
