sorry if my question is probably nonsense to some but please hear me out. What if i will put a premium gasoline to my prius c, Does it make any difference at all in terms of performance (i know the recommended gasoline is 87 octane) Will i save more in terms of more mileages because I'm using a very fine gasoline but more expensive in gas prices?
87 is the way to go. Higher octane doesn't mean a higher quality gasoline. It simply means it has better knock resistance. You're better off running the lowest octane that doesn't ping or knock. More energy per unit.
What they said. Save your money. Why do you think that higher octane gas would be better than regular 87?
The much missed Bob Wilson found no difference in a Gen 3 Prius gas mileage. He did find improved power when going up long grades using Premium, but it was not very significant. You have chosen not give any indication where you live, so it is hard to say if you have any long uphill grades locally.
answers are: - it's nothing more than a waste of money. - performance is negligible, and will still cost you more than it's worth. - hell no. don't be stupid. don't waste your money.
On this engine the best is 87 since that's what it is designed for. The best thing you can do is use Top Tier gas from any station on this link. Top Tier Gasoline
I can see that. If it was 100+ out and climbing big grands, things would sure heat up fast. The engine would pull a lot of timing and maybe bleed out more air since it's a Atkinson Cycle to control knock?
