I am looking at the underbelly of the trunk handle and I see a rectangular padding on the left side and a flat area on the right. In the manual, there is a smallish round button on the right. My manual does not match the handle. What is up with that? Supposedly the round button, I think, locks all the doors, including the trunk door. Is this feature only on the fancier Prius'?
It sounds like you're referring to 3-door SKS (two front doors and the hatch). Prius Two has only 1-door SKS (driver's door only). One needs to go to model Three or above for 3-door SKS.
RE: Prius 2011 Two- Hatchback Isn't the rear door supposed to open, when the flat area under handle is pressed, if you have the SKS on your person? Mine is a new car. Unless I'm doing something wrong, mine won't open - unless I press the Unlock button on the fob. Before I take it back to the dealer, I thought I'd ask if it was 'user' error! Thanks, Betrock
^^^ Only if you have 3 door smart key system. On the 2010-2011 Priuses, you needed to have model Four (aka IV on '10) or above to have 3 door SKS. For the '12s, it's model Three or above.
What Cwerdna said. It'll only open if you have the 3-dr SKS which is available on model Three and higher. With the Two, only the driver's door has the Smart Entry and Touch Sensor lock.
That's a relief! I thought something was wrong, which meant that other electrical things could be wrong, and there are so many electrical things! ....Lions & tigers & bears, Oh my!
