Please, does anyone know where to find this reading? I've searched and searched and I cannot find out how to display the distance to empty.

    I appreciate any help. Thanks!

I believe it's the "Driving Range" listed on the info screen.

It's in the Eco screen, says something along the lines of "Cruising Range," which, as far as I've been able to ascertain, is the equivalent of distance 'til empty. :)

Ohhhh! Hmm, that's kind of odd. I will have to take a look at it tomorrow. Thank you :)

Cruising range shows up in your trip information (among other places) when you turn off the car.

Also, if you have the Nav system, cruising range shows up when you press the Car button.

Does this number update as the car gets better avg mpg?

I'm curious about that too. Last night, I had two bars left on the gauge, but cruising range said 1 mile. Yes, one. Obviously that's not right. I filled up anyway because I had to stop at the post office which is connected to the gas station, and now it says 367 or something like that, which is just slightly less than how far I drove before filling up. I'm probably not going to trust it all too much, unless it calibrates itself to a more accurate number.

because it's a hybrid.. there's no accurate way to really calculate and predict your driving conditions and methods to have a reading that's for "distance until empty"

so the only thing that would be the most accurate.. is "cruising range"... basically gives you an idea if you were ONLY cruising.. that's about how far you can get...

throw in the hybrid system and real-life driving scenarios... and your true range will be obviously higher... though it's still not a good thing to get the fuel tank that low.

My regular Prius' always had an actual "distance to empty" and it seemed pretty accurate.

Only had two fill ups so far, but "cruising range" went to ZERO on both tanks well before I was empty. Did't note the gallons on the first tank, but with the second, I had 2/3 gallon left when I "noticed" that it was at ZERO. The only reason I looked, was because that's when the last bar on the gas gauge started to blink.

On both tanks, it seemed like the gas gauge took a very long time to start moving, and after it half a tank, the bars seem to disappear at a faster pace.

Is it stated anywhere how many gallons should be left in the tank when the bar starts to blink? While the cruising miles left will always vary based on driving conditions, the gallons to empty should be consistent.

I just filled up first time today. Cruising range was actually at zero days ago.

I do agree with the gauge going slow until halfway. I had two bars
yesterday, and then this morning only one blinking.
I filled it at the end of the day about 20-25 miles later.

On my second fill up it said I had a cruising range of 378 miles, and I actually went 496 miles before I filled up. The last bar started blinking around 485 miles, and I didn't want to take too much of a chance, but I pushed it for another 11 miles just to see. I've also noticed that the cruising range adjusts a little over the course of a tank of gas. I think it starts to gauge your average MPG on that tank and makes the adjustments to the cruising range number. I honestly feel the cruising range will become more accurate over the life of the car. I'm still within my first 1,000 miles.
