Assuming that you didn't get the navi and you have a Garmin... what's the best way to mount it? Windshield? AC vent? Cup holder?...etc.
I mounted my iphone on the vent, because I've heard about ppl breaking window for GPS when they see window mounts. The vent is small though, mounting the iPhone blocks one vent almost completely.
I don't use my Garmin unit much anymore since I have nav in my Prius. (My other former car had no nav). That said, I usehttp://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B002OL2MU4?tag=priuschatcom-20 which I believe I might've bought somewhere else. Works great! Previously, mounting GPS units via suction cups onto the windshield was illegal in CA anyway and the mounts didn't stick that well. Also, supposedly GPS unit thieves supposedly look for suction cup marks on windshields.
I use the suction cup on the windshield when I use it. It sticks better when you lick it. It's easy enough to take off and stow in the glove box or arm rest. I carry mine in a little camara bag, including all the bits/pieces.
I second this mount! If there is room for it. I have one for my Garmin and it was awesome in my Nissan Sentra, but it had a nice ideal flat spot for it on the dash and didn't impede visibility. I haven't tried it in the C yet because of the onboard nav.
Yep also use the Garmin Portable Friction Mount. Works great and easy to move from one vehicle to another. No GPS in my c, but have a Garmin unit with Free Lifetime map and traffic updates so figure I did not really need it.
The suction cup mount works great, and fits like it was meant just for it, on the tiny triangular window in the A-pillar. It doesn't block anything in this position, and it's even partially shaded from the sun. It is by far the best location in my opinion. Shawn
I have the "beanbag" mount that I used to use in my truck. Will probably use the same thing in the C...
I haven't found a perfect solution for this yet... I was thinking to make a customized holder that fits the dashboard storage, which seems like a perfect spot for a garmin.
That is where I have mine as well. Unless you look at the little window directly you cannot see the gps or the suction cup from outside. Soon I will be running a permanent charging cable to that corner from under the dash so even that will be hidden from view.
Hmm...I wonder if I can mount my Droid on that little window. Not sure the arm adjusts the correct direction for it to work, but I'll take a look later. I had it mounted in the center of my windshield, but I use it too rarely to allow it to take up that much of my view. It's currently in my glovebox.
