I've flipped through pictures online and I'm curious: is moonglow just white? and is metallic rain just blue? the photos on the toyota site are drastically different from google pictures from real owners. thanks!
both are metallic colors (moonglow pearl?) that change hue according to how the light hits it and what the light source is. moonglow has a greenish tint to the sparkle when in bright sunlight. our summer rain changes drastically under different types of lighting. have you seen this webpage with photos of cars in the different colors? Toyota Prius c Touchup Paint Codes, Image Galleries, Brochure and TV Commercial Archives click on each paint color and a gallery of cars in that particular color can be viewed under different lighting.
Lighting seems to make a huge difference with some of the c colors. I mostly see habanero around here and in some types of lighting it is a disappointing shade of salmon. Bleh
SALMON!!! You've hit it right on the head. Couldn't figure out why the Habanero looked so good from some angles and lighting and so not so good from other angle/lighting. Now I'm craving some lox and bagels. Thanks.
Moonglow has a very, very faint green glow under very specific lighting conditions. Summer Rain is the epitomy of the Japanese "Ao" which means both blue and green (not the more modern "Midori" which means green). Under certain lighting it is blue, under other lighting it looks green and sometimes it looks like both. Confused yet? I sure was when I first saw the different colors. Moonglow looks white - till it's parked next to a Super White - then it looks kinda off white. If the lighting is right it kinda twinkles with green sparkles.
I was munching on a bagel and smoked steelhead (looks just like lox) yesterday and that was when it hit me. The Prius c I saw on the way home looked like my bagel sandwich. lol
I have yet to be in any light where my Summer Rain looks green, at all. I've seen some pictures from Toyota where it looks so green that I can't imagine it's actually the same paint. But it is definitely a light blue to my eyes. Don't get it if you expect/desire much green.
Hmm, I am trying to patiently wait for my moonglow and was hoping it would be a pearly white similar to blizzard pearl. Sounds like it will be close. I must say that habanaro and summer rain were the other colors I was considering. In most of the press pictures, summer rain looks very green. I am glad to hear that it is more blue (in case I change my mind from moon glow). ;-)
Seeing the Moonglow live is very-very nice. Possibly the nicest stock white available on any new car.
My moonglow is very white. I haven't found anyway to make the green tint visible yet (unless I put my nose to the car to look)
I see the green quite often in direct sunlight - I also find that while washing my car I see it quite often
I have seen the moonglow in person (one of the only shades we have around here) and if I liked white cars, I would get it because it is neat shade of white I think. You can see the green undertone in it which is kinda cool. I am getting Summer Rain though.. I think there are too many white cars in the world already...
We did not get Moonglow (prius C color) we got Sea Glass Pearl on our 2012 PIII. We just thought the Moonglow was fantastic. If you' excited about it, it will be the best color. Relax. Have fun.
:cheer2: I love my moonglow. AND it reflects heat really well and I'm guessing it will cost a little less to keep cool than the darker colors.
