i noticed that on my car settings theres an option on the screen that says "text messages" and another one for "emails", however they are greyed out and i cannot access either one of them. My iphone4 is paird to the car with internet access. Anyone know whats this about?
I have the same problem with my iphone4 as well. However, I feel as though this is in part due to Apple and not Toyota. Anyone with an iPhone and 2012 Prius able to correct me on this??
If you search, you'll see this is a known issue, and as tran mentioned a limitation of the iPhone OS. I feel your pain, it would be nice to have this and bluetooth internet functional. We could all buy Android phones and these things would work...
And this looks like it answered the question I just posted. :/ Hopefully Apple under Tim Cook will open up a bit more.
Nah, keep your iPhone. I haven't seen an Android device that shares the messages yet. I have to admit that I pair 5 iPhones to one Android device so it's absolutely possible that my lack of Anroid experience was why I couldn't make it work. Truth is, neither iPhone or Android have the bluetooth profiles to share emails/text messages. I have heard the blackberry does, but you only get a 2-3 line preview of the email. Text message response are pre-programmed limited responses. I've said it before, I don't think these are functions that would change our lives. If they were, Apple would have found a way to sell us yet another device that would to it awesomely and make our lives more wonderful than they already are
I have the Motorola Razr MAXX and my Prius III does read my text messages. However the bluetooth connection is flaky. I often have to repair it just to get audio and phone to work.
