Whats the lowest MPG on a 3rd generation Prius for normal day to day condition driving? My lowest I ever got was 42.9 mpg. Coldest month in AZ (end of Dec) high 30s morning, 50s high, driving in Power mode.
The lowest mpg we got on our Jan purchased 2011 was the fuirst tankful that the wife used...42.0 on the nose. The second tank was nearly 44, then 45 and the last two at 50+ as she "learned" how to drive it. She used to keep on the gas until the last second to keep up with traffic, just like lots of other people did. After seeing me put it on cruise as soon as I got up to the speed I wanted and clicked off the cruise when I saw that I would need to stop ahead she altered her style. Of course now the warm temps are helping her too. This is still nearly 4 times the mpgs that her mini van was getting in town....so the car is definately helping to pay over $200 in gas savings compared to the $280 a month lease. A few weeks ago she WOULD have saved $255 in gas compared to the van when the gas was up to $4.15 compaered to the $3.15 when we bought it.
My lowest was 15.0 klm / liter (a little better than 35 MPG). That was my very first tank. In the winter and rain I have gotten close to that but never that bad. Lifetime average (27 months and 41k klm (25k miles)) 17.1 klm / liter or 40 ish MPG. My daily commute is bad for MPG.

Worst ever... CONS=32.8 (actual was ~2.5mpg less) Tank Mi. = 284.8 Ave. speed = 16 Odo = 4331, back in Feb., 2010 Chicago averages in winter are pretty bad, but that tank was the worst.
wow, surprised to hear some mpg in the 30s for a full or almost full tank,. I live in Arizona so i'm lucky for mild winters and no snow in the valley. But we make up for it in the brutal summers that seems to last 5 months of 100+ degrees F. It would be tough for me to get below 40 mpg unless I drove up north which the elevation is higher and I would be going uphill mostly.
Displayed was 42 so about 39 actual. Was around freezing temps, lots of wind, and was learning to drive the Prius.
I got a 38 and some change for a tank this last Jan. We had a solid 3 weeks of below zero temps... and with studded tires, I was surprised I got that.
F8L drove my car for 400 miles (on the trip to pick up his car) and managed to get 38. LOL! MB860 ? 2
Logged 72 fill ups ranging from 42.4 to 48 MPG. The 42.4 was logged 11 January. I'm away at CES the first week of Jan, so it was a combination of stop-and-go town driving, car filled with kids, winter weather, and lead-footed wife driving while I was away. Surprised it wasn't worse.
01/11/2010 349 miles on the tank. 8.585 gallons to fill up 43.40 Displayed 40.65 Calculated Average temperature that month - 32 DEGF
My worst tank was the first. 1/7/10 489 miles on 8.312 gallons for 45.1mpg. That week was between two snowstorms that dumped measurable accumulations with temps below freezing. Welcome to Ice Planet Hoth. BTW the grill was blocked & tp was max sidewall.
Last summer I drove a rental Prii up I-75 in Michigan running 85-100 mph and I could only get high 40's mpg The only way I can get the rentals down to 43 mpg is running 70+ on the Interstates with it loaded with 3 people, luggage, one case of water, some food, & 7 heaping full grocery carts of goodies from the Goodwill Outlet stores in Indy I do run the tires at 45 psi so that might help. Mike
I think 42 was the worst I've had, first winter with temps in the teens and lots of snow, lots of idling with the heat on while I waited for people!
Calculated on android phone with Acar free app. started using app on aug 2 with 352 mi on OD. most likely first fill up.... @42.4 mpg 40.136 mpg od 6,994 Nov Washington DC $3.499 6.002 gal 50% fill up 276 mi sunoco gas best 53.286 mpg od 18,242 (car calculated 57.3) Mar. Metro area would like to help a struggling prii brethren PM me. I can provide excellent after training food and beer! Over all going from driving a V6 Explorer Sport Trac to now driving a Prius III well, Im loving it!!!! I see "my" truck all over the place, and I really wish I had not gotten rid of it, but I wouldn't trade my prius for anything! (maybe a volt, maybe...) I love my Prius!!! MORE and MORE with each fill up ~Now about that FOOD & BEER~
