I've been trying to play DVDs on my new Advance PiP, but for some reason it never shows the video, just a blue screen. I made sure i was either in on or accessory mode, but i get the same no matter what. I tried multiple DVDs too. Am I missing something?
I had no idea this model playes Videos. News to me. If in fact it does, like anything else we make with front screen capable, you'd need the car in park + the emergency brake on, down to the floor!
Yeah the premium nav manual says you can play video. I bet the missing component is the emergency brake. EDIT: You're RIGHT! I missed that part in the manual, It says the three conditions that must be met are that the car has to be stopped, the power switch is in accessory or on mode, and that the parking brake is applied. I was missing the third component! Thanks as always Dianne!
Blu Ray? or Standard Def? LOL And how soon will there be a hack to defeat the conditions so your passengers can watch while you drive?
Yep there is, i plan on possibly investing in one in a few months Prestigious Society » Navigation and Video Enhancement Module » Prestigious Society
So would this unlock the unit so that my passengers can watch video while I drive? Seeing as your in San And I am in Yorba Linda who will be installing your unit?
Yeah their site explicitly states that it can unlock it so your passenger can watch DVDs. I will be installing it myself, i have a long history of doing all my own car audio work and this seems like it'll be rather plug and play.
I'm sure it's similar in function to the speed lock override that the kit in the PriusChat shop sells (PriusChat Shop : Toyota Prius Navigation Speed Lock Override [Prius Nav Override] - $80.00), but with the added ability to have other video source inputs routed to the in-dash unit as well.
how did the install go? I just got my 2012 prius and tried out dvd playback with the HDD Nav today. This thread is awesome!
