The customization manual for the 2012 Prius (just got mine) lists a whole pile of (allegedly) user-settable options. Some, like the backup beeper, are clearly listed as "dealer-settable only", but most are checked in the middle column, which means "settable via Navigation system". When I go to the Setup/Vehicle page, though, there are only about half a dozen settings; most of the ones from the manual are not there. Example: Smart Key System. I would like all doors to unlock when the driver's door is unlocked via the smart key. Anyone know what gives? Should I be allowed to set this stuff or not? Is there some other way to access these settings?
Re: 2012 Viehicle Customization Options? There's a page number listed for each item on the list. for example, Smart Key System in my manual says "Page 61." Try looking on that page and see if it gives you the answer that you need.
Re: 2012 Viehicle Customization Options? Ah, you are correct. I was fooled by the implication that the settings were settable in the touch display, and thought the page number references showed how to use the feature, not how to customize. That was true, actually, but the customization instructions are nearby (page 70, in the case mentioned above). I don't know why they don't put everything into the touch display, but whatever, as long as I can make the changes I'm happy. I am interested in folks mentioning the "warning noise" the car makes at slow speeds in all-electric mode. My car makes no such noise...
Re: 2012 Viehicle Customization Options? i took a plugin for a test drive today and couldn't hear anything driving slowly thru the parking lot with the windows down.
Re: 2012 Viehicle Customization Options? It's quiet but it sounds like a space ship. Let someone else drive it, or drive into your garage with the windows down.
Re: 2012 Viehicle Customization Options? Tried it in the garage tonight, and sure enough there it is. Much quieter than I was expecting. Can't hear it when there's any amount of ambient noise outside. Funky!
Re: 2012 Viehicle Customization Options? When I was driving through a parking lot the other night, a kid turned and stared at my car with a very surprised look in his face. So... I guess other people can hear it.
Re: 2012 Viehicle Customization Options? My wife and grown kids tell me the noise is there though low. My hearing (child of the 60s loud music) is not what it once was!
The 2012 manual is less then informative in many cases due to the fact that it's a mashup of the 2010-2011 manual and includes some of the changes made for the 2012 models. It's almost misinformation in some cases when referring to the cars electronics systems. You can enable "all doors unlock via SKS" by entering the correct sequence one time into the fob when in/near the car. You can disable two-press unlock via the car's infotainment system. This will let you unlock all doors by pressing the unlock button on the remote fob just one time. You can disable the constant in-car reverse gear beep with the ELM tool and a laptop. You can disable the constant in-car passenger seat-belt unbuckled beep with the ELM tool and a laptop. You can not disable the vehicle proximity system via software at this time.
