Crutchfield says they don't have a wire harness yet for the c1/c2. Please post if anyone finds one that will work. Planning to install an 8310NRB w/h nav and backup camera integration. Power Acoustik makes a very nice license plate holder that has a rear camera and backup sensors, all links right into the head unit. Just waiting on the harness... Thanks in advance if anyone finds one or can cross reference from another Toyota model that that is compatible.
I'm hoping for the same...figured a Yaris might be close to compatible but assuming can be dangerous.
as far as i know the standard prius wiring kit from metra works ive been toying with it for abit, just waiting for a dash kit to be fabbed
Did Crutchfield say they were going to come up with a wire harness for the Prius c yet? Once again, the aftermarket seems to be snoozing... and the c is EVing silently by most of them. Tell these companies that we need products for the Prius c. Now! Call them or email. They probably don't have much of a clue how many are being sold. In the last few days, I've contacted TireRack, Hidden Hitch and McNiel (Weathertech) to ask about getting some needed products developed for the Prius c. Make sure you mention this to them, especially when they respond with something like... "we don't have any for the Prius c".
after numerous emails, it seems everybody is claiming that due to the manufacturers not having a C available either for rental or to borrow, they can't design things. Some of them have asked to use my vehicle even!
Why not just ask SquallLHeart what the plug looks like on the back of the unit he has removed to do the led changes? I would guess it would be the same as a gen3 Prius. http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-c...hange-green-blue-in-progress.html#post1502568
there ya' go! just go buy a Toyota plug from Walmart and it should work. Thanks, SquallLHeart. :thumb:
SqualLHeart, Did you and kewlfox fab up the dash / MDF kit in your garage or did you take it somewhere? I'm thinking that this might be the quickest option, and possibly when something comes out later I can just swap it out, or, wrap some vinyl around the MDF. I'm a little concerned with the dimensions of it, did you just pop the radio out of kewlfox's car and trace the frame of the dash kit and then cut?
so this should work? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002BEQJ8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER Metra 70-1761 Radio Wiring Harness For Toyota 87-Up Power 4 Speaker what about the controller for the steering wheel controls?
kewlfox had a buddy of his cut out the mdf to fit.. and wrapped it in black fabric... basically.. traced the main shape using the plastic panel piece.. and trimmed. and trimmed until it fit nicely. yup.. as far as the radio controls, you need to get an adapter. we used a PAC-SWI.
Would this apply to nav units? What adapter is needed for a backup camera input? A stock Prius part? I am inquiring for my installer, who cannot get specs on a Prius C 3 yet.
I'd be surprised if you can hookup a backup camera to work on your native navi w/o some homebrew. If that's a priority best bet was to go with a c2 and aftermarket head that supports a backup camera.
i just dealt with installing an aftermarket headunit that has a rear camera input.. don't know if the stock navi system on the 3&4 has one... but considering some other countries have it.. there might be something back there for a camera input.
