Could not find a single prius at my local dealership and no wonder. Toyota sold over 27K(other data says over 28K) Prius's for the month of March alone. This means that the price for a prius can go up or sold at sticker price. Honda sold around 2K of the Insight even with the Insight sold at a lower price. http://hybridcars.com/news/march-2012-dashboard-44059.html
Just back from a trip to mid-state Pa, and heard that from family up that way when they saw my Prius. A quick check of cars.com in my area is showing little or no discount in the DC area right now. Surprising how 30 to 45 days changes things. VERY happy that I bought mine back in late February... :cheer2:
Find a Prius, I could not find your local dealer, Somewhere out there Toyota or Toyota of Somewhere out there brought no search results.
lol. Have you checked your local dealer lately? Here is where the other 10K units went for the month of march. Toyota Prius sales surge 54% from a year earlier to monthly record
I thought that might happen, that's why I bought mine in late February, sooner than I planned. Now it seems I got a great deal.
Wish I knew that feeling :/...maybe with gas prices dropping towards the end of this month a used 2010 might drop to below 18k here in Texas. Dealers aren't negotiating much with the current price if gas
Here in SoCal, there are a lot of Prii at the dealer's lot. You won't get any incentives though.. you'll be paying sticker price. As for going with the "USED" route.. i don't recommend it. You'll still be paying more and most Prii owners that i know tend to keep their cars for a long time, hence the low supply for a Used one.
Will we need to start a new 'Prius waiting list support thread' by June? http://priuschat.com/forums/newbie-forum/48970-prius-waiting-list-support-group.html Exactly 1000 posts over 6 months time.
Touché...there are some new 2011 Prius listing for 22.5...gotta go new for the slight price increase
We still have some on the lots but not that many they are selling well. I have been seeing more v's around the island, still have not noticed a c yet. Driving home from work yesterday I had a real Prius nerd moment I saw a Gen. I ahead of me I passed him and there was a Gen. II in front of him so there was the Gen II, me in my Gen III and the Gen I caboose all in a line going down the freeway. Posted from my iPhone via the Tapatalk app.
problem with that quote is that stat is 1 year old, March 2012 they sold 27800 units and 1032 insights. so more PRI and even less insights. March 2012 Dashboard | Hybrid Cars
The real shortage is with the Fives. Especially around here. Gulf State Toyota is not bring hardly any to this whole region. Just a few a month. I know someone that works there and saw the list of incoming cars. I finally said screw this and I'm buying out of California. If I'm gonna pay this kind of dough for a prius, I'm getting exactly what I want. Even with shipping to southeast texas, it's still saving me $. We bought TWO! :whoo:
People are like sheep. Last Jan Toyota couldn't give away a Prius because of the bad press. Now with gas prices rising, everybody and their cousins suddenly want to get behind the wheel of one.
Bought my '12 model 4 with solar package a month ago. Paid $200 under invoice at DCH Simi Valley, CA. A friend bought a model 3 with sunroof there two weeks ago for $100 over invoice. There are plenty in SoCal and there's lots of price competition if you know how to play the game; i.e., internet contacts and the ability to wait, or buy right away.
When we got our Prius 2 weeks ago there were all models available and negotiating prices down was not a problem.
I bought mine 2 week's ago and didn't feel there was any shortage either. It probably depends on where you are.
