We got a call to come check out our car last night. We should get the paperwork done and drive home Friday afternoon. Yay! One thing that stuck a burr under my saddle, though, was that it already had 824 miles on it. They traded cars with a dealer and had to do the drive thing. It won't kill me, but I've picked up cars before that had barely 10 miles on them. So, what number of miles did YOU have upon picking up your C? Bragging/Commiseration rights to the highest and lowest numbers.
65 miles on mine and they got it in that day. Mine was the very first one at that dealership so all the salesman were driving it to check it out. I didn't like it but in the grand scheme of things, 65 miles on an easy 200,000 mile car is nothing lol!!
Since the car is so hard to find and new, the dealers would probably use whatever available for test drives.
I bought a Honda Accord that had about 75 miles on it due to the dealer using it for test drives. It was the only one they had on the lot in the color that I wanted so I accepted it. The salesman listed the mileage so that the 36k mile warranty began at 75 miles and not 0 miles. I was satisfied with this, not that it made any difference. But in your case of 800+ miles it would make a difference. I would see if I could get the dealer to list this mileage at purchase and agree to the warranty beginning at this mileage.
I wouldn't buy a "new" car with 100 miles on it let alone 824 miles! It's used at that point. It should sell at a big discount to a new car. Let someone else have it or negotiate a lower price.
Mine had 84 miles on it and my dealer had to import it from another dealer too. It took 6 days to deliver. It wasn't that big a deal to me since the car still is gorgeous BUT I really wish I had inquired to the mileage before I signed the paperwork. I am sure it was on there somewhere but next time I buy a car and this scenario happens I would like to know because if it had 800 miles on it I would have negotiated down. Still tho, as long as it looks great and you didn't get raked over the coals in the final price don't sweat it and enjoy your new ride.
Mine had 7. Boat to Portland dealer, trucked to Eugene dealer, where they didn't allow any staff to test drive. 800 would certainly irk me, and I would have fought for a discount because of it. Still funny to see such a low number on the odometer, since my first and only car before this was purchased with 94,000
1! Straight off the back of a transporter. It was really weird seeing that solitary '1' as the mileage. Soon racked up though
