Some dealers assign and plate cars at point of delivery.

Mine was hard plated the second I drove off. So basically 12 days from delivery to sticker in hand.

    I just got #374.

I've also seen one Volt with green stickers here in the Bay Area.

My car pool partner and I saw our 1st set of green stickers yesterday . . . South Bound on I.5 heading towards Tustin, around 1:30PM. Charcoal metallic. Like a big goober, I sped up to give 'em a high sign ... and we barely got a tepid acknowledgement. He must have got the PiP strictly for the stickers.

I've had mine (#149) for about a week. It's nice to be able to cruze up the carpool lane on the 605 again. The only downside is increased speed (it's hard to stay below 70), so decreased mileage. Before sticker, averaged about 100 combined mpg on my 24 mile commute. Now, because of the speed, mpg down to about 60-65.

I'm quite ecstatic that the plates came in after only 1 week, causing first , then subsequently , and finally

Then I saw the registration card and it has my middle name flipped with my last name ....:rolleyes::rolleyes:, which I have no idea how they managed to screw it up when my temp registration entered by the dealer was correct. Everything else is correct, including address.

I just put my green sticker application in today, but do you think I should just have the registration changed at DMV ASAP first? Just want to make sure I don't delay the process.

    Ha!
REGARDING THE DATES FOR THE FIRST YELLOW STICKERS:
I didn't want to challenge you on it because I adore ya... but I'll tell you how I knew.
    1. August 11 was my parent's wedding anniversary so that's a "always remember it" day.
    2. I bought myself a tideland pearl Prius 2005 on that same day, August 11, 2005 because of the stickers. That car is still in my family (it's my mom's) and every year when she renews the tags, she sees 8/11 and reminisces about her wedding anniversary... my dad passed away in 1988.

That's why I knew it was August 11, 2005. But, thanks for confirming it with a news article. :D

definitely get the sticker first and worry about the name later. a friend of mine had her birthday changed when she renewed her license (month and day swapped), ended up having to go *twice* to get it fixed. get the stickers first and foremost (well, assuming you need them), and deal with the name after you get them. it's not like the stickers themselves have your name on them :)

Unless the DMV clerk can't put it together and realize the error, and kicks your sticker application back because the last name on the app doesn't match the last name on the current registration.

If you have to update the decal certificate to match a personalized plate, or in my case a disabled plate, it only took ten days from mailing in the updated form to receiving the new certificate today. Nice going, DMV.:D

My stickers came last night and before I put them on I wanted to see if anyone out there could help me decide where to mount them. I've seen the pictures of people mounting them on their rear fenders and want to know if there's any particular reason why people aren't mounting them lower (like the lowest painted part behind the rear wheel - below the body line)? I thought it would be a less noticeable part of the car incase any damage occurs to the paint when I remove them in 3 years, but I am guessing that there is a reason others aren't mounting their stickers there.

    Thanks for any help!!

people think i am crazy but i don't want the stickers on the bumpers. soon after getting the stickers on my 06 prius someone lightly rear-ended me and rather than taking the month+ hit to get new stickers, i had to live with slight damage to the bumper jacket.

since then i've put the stickers on the body of the car itself under the theory that in a minor accident i won't have to go thru the hassle of getting new stickers. you have to send all of them in to the dmv in order to apply for the new ones, and you are not allowed to drive in the carpool lane while you are waiting.

by the way, when someone stole 2 of the stickers off of my '07 prius, i had to remove the other two and send them in. i was able to remove the stickers with no damage to the paint by carefully warming the stickers up with a hairdryer. these stickers happened to be on the bumpers, but i don't think the body would be any different.

    So to keep y'all entertained ... :)

I took my registration card to DMV today but they said in order to change what's on the registration card I need a title. Guess what, the title will take another week at least to arrive.

Then I will need to go back to DMV, change the name once the title comes in, wait for them to issue a new registration card and title, then presumably resubmit the decal application after that.

So worst case scenario is from purchase to sticker arrival = 5 weeks

Hope my current app goes through, but I won't stake my life on it.

#332 arrived on the 4/13. I waited for the license plate to arrive before submitting the application. I figured it is going to take months to deplete the 40K decals. Hello HOV lane!
