I was amazed at how many Prius taxi cabs I saw while in San Fransisco last week. Much to the chagrin of my wife and daughter, I took pictures of some of them so that I could show you guys. :)

I would have loved to know more about their maintenance issues but alas, was not able to ride in one. :(

And that's just the Prii taxi cabs. Throw in the Escape, Fusion, Civic and Altima...now you have lots of hybrid taxi cabs. The Prii far outnumbers the others though.

That's very true and I forgot to mention that fact. Most of the taxi's were hybrids there.

I ride in the Prius cabs all the time. 225K miles is about average on one and trust me, close your eyes and you cant tell the difference between new. It heavily influenced my decision to buy one.

What surprises me is that nearly all are gen II models. The only gen III was the Green Cabs shots. It maybe that everyone got on the band wagon with the gen II, and thus there are very few replacements happening, but the gen III has now been out for nearly 3 years and I would have expected slightly more gen III shots.

Gen 2 Prius back seat roof/ceiling is too low to be suitable for taxi IMHO.
