So to get Toyota back into current web page updates...I cancelled my order after getting my Prius Plug In 4 days ago. Their update on my order web page says it is on a boat and hasn't arrived yet. :p:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Love the Prius Plug in. Toyota just needs to get into 2012 with their web design...

    Reality trumps the virtual world.

If you've already received your PiP, then what does it matter if the status online is out of date?! The only time it matters is when you're still waiting for the car. Yes, it would be nice for the updates to match our real-time, technology-driven lives. However, I really appreciate Toyota giving us the opportunity to order in advance (and for most people at a discount below MSRP instead of the premium the cars will demand when sold off the lot).

The little snafus around the on-line updates are just noise. At least they're making an attempt to communicate instead of providing nothing. These kinds of (new) processes are way more complex behind the scenes than most people realize. It will improve over time. We're the early adopters -- not just for the PiP but also this ordering / notification process, etc. Leading edge = bleeding edge.

    Enjoy the car. :)

Update: My sales Rep called me last week and we had a good laugh. I guess after I canceled on my Prius website page, Toyota called him and wanted to know where the prius was. He had to provide them the papers that it was sold and I indeed had the Prius. I guess it caused havoc in Toyota's outdated corporate website. I actually told Corporate Toyota in my final customer survey to hire UPS logistics department to design a new Toyota website.;)

I thought Toyota did a pretty good job giving notifications. I never looked at the order web site. With all those notifications I thought it was irrelevant.
After I received my e-mail notice about the plug-in being assembled. I got with the local dealer sales rep. Those guys get more details. When I received the announcement on the Plug-In was on the ship, I called the locale sales guy and he got the name of the vessle the car was on. I got on vessle tracker and with marine tracker, I followed the ship through the Panama Canal to Jacksonville then to Newark. At the Panama Canal I found live cameras and followed the ship through the locks.
After the ship arrived a Newark I received notice that the car was on the truck. It was almost a let down to get the call car was at the dealership.

I saw a post from Erica in regards to this.
She mentioned something about this not being so great, and one may have regrets.

Anyone know what she meant ?
Maybe all completed orders receive a free cable charger bag ...:mod:

NO, I think this may be a very serious issue. One should not make lightly of corporate affairs. For all those who have cancelled thier order after receiving thier cars, please return the cars immediately. You are no longer authorised these cars and Toyota records indicate a minus on your account.

Doing what Kahuna did was quite foolish IMO. I'm guessing maybe we'll be getting a Thank You letter, a keychain, who knows what if anything but those who played around like Kahuna did will probably be left out if they do do something like send us something, even if only a letter.

It sounds like his Dealer had to hussle and Prove Delivery.

So I'm not sure the Dealer was really Laughing on the phone with him.

Yes we laughed believe it or not. Toyota can't track 5000 cars and UPS can track millons of packages. Explain that mensas...

Consider yourself lucky! Nissan's Leaf ordering process was completely botched, with cars delivered MONTHS out of order, a web site that was designed by morons, a customer service line that had ZERO information, lies upon lies upon lies about order details, VINs assigned and then taken back, disappearing cars, cars sitting in port for weeks and weeks AFTER they were supposedly cleared for delivery, disinformation regarding the need for a hard-wired EVSE, a crooked company contracted to provide EVSEs which routinely quoted double or triple fair market for installation cost and complete silence from Nissan about alternatives.

When I finally canceled my Leaf order and bought the Tesla instead, "my" Leaf was already six months behind the original promised delivery date and still nowhere in sight.

Toyota deserves real kudos for an orderly, well-run roll-out of the PiP.
