hi all! my wife and i have been strongly considering a prius C but then i noticed that the 2013 yaris hybrid in europe was basically the same car with WAY more features for basically the same price!!! i'm used to driving luxury cars so going to a prius C is a big hit with regards to what features it offers... the yaris hybrid has it all! has there been any discussion about the yaris hybrid coming to the US? or any talk about the prius getting some more of the features that the yaris hybrid has (i.e. dual zone climate control, auto head lights, auto-dim mirror, rear backup camera, auto central locking, LED lights, etc.) i know it might be too early to say, since the prius c just came out... but just wondering thanks for any help!
I don't think they will bring that vehicle for US market. it will hurt the sale of the C. I hope toyota will bring Hybrid Van into US. or Sienna hybrid. lol
Doesn't Toyota (and Ford and GM) drive you crazy with all the cool luxed out Euro wheels available and in the US we get the stripped down po'boy specials.
I do not know. Doesn't it drive you crazy that those Americans get brand new cars that are 40% cheaper than the prices we pay in Europe. I wouldn't mind paying less and getting a lower spec.
You are conflating government tax policy which is the reason for the price difference vs Toyota model availability. Look on the bright side, you don't have to pay for trillion dollar oil wars you are 50% more energy efficient, way less carbon guilt...you know...all the reasons people spend extra dollars to drive a Prius.
with the Prius C coming out recently... it's pretty much going to be a no.. Europe got the Yaris Hybrid.. and we got the Prius C.. if you think the Yaris Hybrid had features... you should really check out what the Aqua (which IS the Prius C) has in Japan.. SAME car... whole different market of items.. fyi, the Prius C has a backup camera, LED headlights, etc... etc.. ... in other countries...
The Yaris Hybrid starts around #15k including 20% VAT, which by amaaaaazing coincidence is the same price as the Polo BlueMotion. #15k is about $23,750 right now and before tax that's actually less than $20k. Now, obviously it's assembled in France to reduce cost, but I think it's pretty clear that Toyota's being very aggressive in its pricing of the Yaris Hybrid. Now consider that the gasoline engine is 1.5L, which is larger than the 1.33L that's in the standard Yaris, so the power difference won't be that great. Consider that gasoline costs twice as much there. Consider that it's an automatic, which most people in Europe don't go for because of the additional cost and lower efficiency. It's also low emission so it'll have low taxes. I expect it'll be a hit. Oh yes, :focus: I don't think the USA will get the Yaris Hybrid. We have the Prius c and we'll keep getting the Prius c. Selling the Yaris Hybrid would only lower the family's sales and I think Toyota is happy to keep them together and have a chance of the family being top 10.
I don't believe that's the case. The UK price for the base mode Yaris Hybrid is £14,995 New Toyota Yaris HSD | Toyota UK which converts to US$23,737. However, that prices include 20% sales tax and is also inclusive of delivery costs, registration etc, so those can be removed to give you a good indication of cost if it were ever to be sold in the US. Much much less than $30,000.
Yes, but he's referring to the one with LEDs, dual climate, backup camera, etc. I was assuming a top of the line, which starts at 17.5k, or $28,000.
OK, it's $28k not $30k but it also includes 20% tax and the $1000 registration costs. Remove those and the car is more affordable. Our prices are quoted in full, all registered, taxed and delivered to your door. Quoting the full European prices including our 20% tax and often 10% import duty as a direct comparison is as bad as when folk mix up UK & US mpg figures.
