I'm interested in possibly buying an XLE.

I know the EPA rates it worse than the LE. I understand on the v, package 5, the real world diff is not very much at all.

Is the epa rating fr the xle compaably correct to the le?

What are people getting on each?

Also, lets discuss the possible reasons as to why it is ifferent?

Is it wheel size? weight of power seats? brand/model of tires? something else?

i'd say mostly wheel size, how much more weight could there be? i don't see a difference with another 150 lb person in the car so how much more does the xle weigh? what are they showing for mpg difference?

90 pounds according to the website. I didn't realize the city rating was 3 less than the LE.

    Yes, XLE is 40/38
    The LE is 43/39

Are people seeing that difference in real life driving?

We will soon see, my wife and I went down to Carson Toyota, met Dianne Whitmire, what a great lady, and her unsung assistant Oscar. That guy runs everywhere, really a nice guy.The wife is going for a HyCam XLE, Smart Girl!!!
The one we want will be arriving in a few weeks, but the wife is now getting excited! While we were there, a semi full of beautiful white PIP's pulled up and unloaded!
More XLE HyCam info to come!!!

I've already put 400 miles on my XLE (just got it on 3/27) and it's been great so far. It really depends on your driving style, but on Highway, I've been getting between 38 to 43 MPG (70 mph, based on the on-board computer's rating). On streets, I get about the same UNLESS I starting playing with the EV switch and using Cruise Control to maintain speed (between 30 to 40 MPH, maintains speed with the electric motor only, engine is off).

My overall rating has been at 39 MPG (about 60% Freeway, 40% highway). I'll do a few actual calculations once I fill up the tank for the first time :D

I've had no issues getting better than the EPA estimates.
