Of special note is that TCH + HiHy must have been 6011 so I expect the TCH had over 5,000 sales.

EDIT: also, only 3,547 Yaris were sold. Any bets they're going to sell more Prius c this year?

28,711 Pri sold wow. What's it going to be ... #12 of all cars, trucks, SUVs for March?

not sure on Yaris vs Prius c... They wont have enough Prius c to sell.
Yaris is actually doing better than estimates, as Toyota knows its pricing is too high (due to the Yen), despite having old powertrain.

Camry Hybrid and Prius c probably are in top 5 vehicles with shortest time on the lot. You are right about them selling around 5k Camry Hybrids.

I dont think it will get significantly better than this for Toyota Hybrids this year, as they simply dont have enough of battery production to increase these numbers (38k/month in USA).

actually, interesting thing is that Corolla is also in hot demand and they dont have enough of them. They just started 2nd shift in their new factory, so that will improve, but it is interesting since Corolla is such old model.

Based on my research, Toyota right now lacks enough of Corolla, Prius, Camry, Rav4, Tacoma, CTh, GS, RX models.

I would guess stopped/lowered imports for some of these as usually they would fill excess demand from Japanese factories (RX, Rav4, Corolla).

Upcoming hybrids are: ESh, GSh, so maybe we will see them going over 40k/month in one of the ending months in the year.

I saw an estimate of 14.5 million vehicle sales annualized, so the Toyota hybrid component was about 3%. About 1/5 of TMS vehicle sales in the US are hybrid, corresponding to a March market share of 16.5%

"small" cars had a really good month, I imagine best ever.
I have not totaled it all up, but the Ford Focus sold 28k, and the GM sonic+cruze ~ 30k.

Wouldn't it be great if the TCH took 20% of camry sales:D

No doubt Americans like other small cars more than the yaris, including the prius c. Only way yaris outsells the prius c is if toyota keeps prius c in short supply. This may happen, but I hope not.

they cant build enough of Camry Hybrids now but they do expect to it to go up to 20% once they are available. Camry Hybrid was reported as one of the shortest on the lot vehicles by Edmunds in March.

Yes its still in ramp up mode. Here we have more information than cars.com. Toyota is also raising the price. TCH is in short supply. Since ramping depends on imported parts, it may be in short supply for awhile.

That leaves 18,899 for Prius hatchback and PHV.

    WOW !!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Prius is truly making a market breakthrough this time.

And the best part is that with gas prices expected to stay the same towards summer, Prius sales could go even higher; possibly even making a permanent advance over conventional ICE cars.

I think the Corolla number includes Matrix as well. So, Prius (family) outsold Corolla (family). :)

891 PHVs were sold in March. A great first month with just the initial launch states.

Prius family came in number 3 for cars ahead of fusion and focus too

Yes, corolla numbers normally include the matrix. I would put a caveat in there though. The prius c is about as related to the prius liftback is as a yaris to a corolla.

Prius c outsold yaris in its first month.

prius liftback, v, phv had a huge increase and are close to corolla sales. Corrola sales are actually slightly down from last year. If trends continue the prius and its wagon and plug in versions will outsell corolla and its hatchback matrix soon.

    Thanks for the link.
Its a good launch for the phv. All around good news for using less gasoline.

Prius c went on sale on March 12, 2012, not a full month. They should be able to move the 6000/month allocated for the US.
