I own a 2010 Prius IV and I am in the process of adding some love to the car to make it more sporty. (Pictures below) So far I have added American Racing AR896 Rims and Tinted the windows to 20% on all windows (excluding windshield of course) My question is: What mods have you done to your Prius that you couldn't do without now that you have it? I just don't want to add if not needed. Thanks in advance
Nice rims, I like em. Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride! I think I would forgo the mud guards and just go with a clear shield, 3M stuff.
Thanks for the replies everyone!! Some great suggestions. I think that I will get the mud guards (any great place to buy them? ) and going to look at maybe getting the rear sway bar and springs. How much better of a ride is it with the bar and springs? Thanks for all your help guys as I am pretty new at modding my ride.
Can't speak for the sway bar, but from hearing from others, it definitely helps in handling & combined w/ the springs it's a deadly combination. With the springs, the ride is firmer but more stable in corners & high speed.
How much does it cost to add springs? Material and labor generally? Is there a specific spring model/company that works best with the prius? Thanks again everyone!
About $200 give or take for the cost of the springs. Installation is going to vary from $100-$300. Personally, I would not pay more than $150-200 but I live in L.A. county where there are alot of choice in shops to go to. Also, there is an awesome DIY thread on spring install which obviously is the cheapest way to go. It is normally about a 4 hour job for your novice DIY'er. As for the choice on which springs to get, do the research (as in how low u want & than what brand. You'll find pix. of other prius w/ different brand springs u may be interested in). There are tons of information if you search. And when u narrow down to any specific brand, me & others will be here to help the best we can.
No prob. Objectively, there are other good brands such as TRD Plus Pkg, H & R, Tein & Tanabe. My favorites are Eibach's & TRD's.
Get the JDM rear headrest. They're also used in the European models. I think they provide better visibility out of the back window b/c they're lower to the seat.
That's a cool idea. I bet they're not using them here in order to get the higher crash rating or something.
Add on $70 for the alignment after the spring install. I do not think most folks are considering that post-install need.
