Many have been asking about the 2012 Camry Hybrid MPG. I'll be keeping tabs on mine, as the MPG was the main purchasing point for me (coming from a 2010 Camry SE V6 @ 23 MPG).

    The Car
    2012 Camry Hybrid XLE
    FE - 50 State Emissions
    BD - Blindspot Monitor
CQ - Convenience Package (Backup Camera, Homelink, Toyota Alarm)
    AY - Safety Connect
LA - Leather/Ultrasuede Seats, Dual Power Seats
    NV - Premium HDD Nav
    SR - Moonroof
    Z1 - Preferred Accy Package
    RF - Rear Spoiler

    The Drive
About 60% Street, 40% Freeway (Flowing, not stop and go)

    The Fuel
I always use Chevron (unless it's an extreme emergency and I can't find one). My last Camry only tasted Chevron, so it won't be a likely factor, but I will make notes if I do use something else. Since this requires 87, that's what I'll be using. I typically fuel up at about 1/8 remaining.

Link to tracking excel sheet (with comparison to if I were to have gone with a Prius, kept my SE V6 or gone with a Prius PHV at their respective known ratings (I averaged 65 MPG on the my PHV drive).

It's an empty sheet ATM guys, haven't filled up yet :) Will fill up tonight for the first measurement.

and let's compare it to gen I. my wife is getting 42 mpg on the mfd this tank, 350 miles in. temps have been in the high 40's and low 50's and she does a lot of around town 2 and 3 mile trips with a 15-20 miler once or twice a week.

She sounds like she knows how to take advantage of the Hybrid system lol. I'm still learning the nuances to surpass the EPA ratings.

Just added a new column with Comments if the vehicle was used for a "out of normal" circumstance. My first few fills were for road trips, so those will definitely have some whacky MPG haha.

Reporting a high tank of 37.2 MPG (San Mateo to Los Angeles) and a low of 32.3 MPG (Los Angeles to San Mateo). Both were filled at about 1/4 tank remaining. Aside from that, I've been averaging 41 MPG (according to the on board display) on my current tank.

Chang, are you doing any manual calculations to confirm how accurate the onboard computer is. I found the rental v wagon I had to be about 2 MPG off. AKA, the computer read 2 more than the actual car was getting.

I was REALLY averaging around 45 with the v. I am deciding between those two, but would hate to fall back to an actual 39 when I know the V can get in the mid and upper 40s. I had a couple times I was averaging 48.

The on-board has been working well actually (off by 1 mpg). My spreadsheet is full of manual calculations based on miles driven from last to current fill up divided by gallons filled. My driving style is a bit aggressive, so hitting 38 during "normal drives" isn't too bad. The oddball 32 mpg going from LA to SF was due to the uphill drive, but doing a bit over the legal speed during the trips and getting 36 was still a good thing.

My current tank is averaging 42 MPG according to the on-board calculation, but we'll see how it pans out. I've been driving more streets and sitting in more stop/go traffic with low speed (30-40mph) cruising.

I have 2500 miles on my loaded XLE and i love it. I get about 38mpg in mixed city and highway, and I am not a hypermiler, I drive sort of fast.

How do I know when it is due for its first maintenance? Does the car tell you? My BMW used to tell me, so I dont know if there are set miles or what. Thanks.

Maintenance is due every 5,000 miles (actual oil change occurs at 10,000). A MAINT REQ light should blink at 4500 miles and remain solid once you should take it in for service.

Averaged 41 on the last tank. Learning to balance with the EV mode for cruising is the key apparently. I'm a fast driver like you, hahaha.

I have a 2007 hybrid Camry that I am now in the process of trading for a 2012 Prius IV. It has 130,000 miles with nothing but routine maintenance being done at oil change times. I've been very pleased. My 90-mile daily roundtrip commute is 95% highway. I used to get 43 mpg tank average, now get about 41, for reasons I don't know. It has been a great, reliable car. Looking forward now to getting 50 mpg.

okay, we finally pulled the trigger. traded our 08 hycam w/ 65,000 miles for a '13 XLE w/ leather, convenience, dispaly audio and blind spot monitor. 08 was reading 43mpg when we dropped it off. reset the avg mpg when we left the dealer (which read 18.5mpg:eek: ) and when we got home after 9 miles of back roads, she read 60.0 mpg! i love this car already.(y) msrp was $33,000. we got it for $29,500. -$11,000. for the trade in, plus 6.25% tax and $400. dealer doc and registration.

Cost you $18.5k for 5 years of use. You got a nicer car that is more efficient too.

    18.5 / 66 months = $280./mo. not bad compared to a lease!
