Huh. I had a VW bug burn because of electrical fire. This was over 25 years ago. You'd think they would have learned by now.
VW is rather cavalier about those fusey thingys, or lack thereof. PS My GF's Audi is terrible in terms of maintenance. It's got ~25k miles and already they've replaced the mechatronix unit and have fixed a big coolant leak. Granted, the coolant leak may have been caused by improper reassembly, but that just means that both the cars and the service techs are unreliable.
