    Hey all,

I just tore out my JBL sytem and replaced the OEM Factory HU with Kenwood DDX719, and I installed a JBL MS-8.

The OEM JBL factory speakers sound better with the MS-8, but still not good enough for me, so now I want to step it up and add some replacement speakers.

What do you think of these: DLS Ultimate UP 36i 3-Way 6-1/2" Component System

Looks like the mids would fit in the space of the squawker location, I could put the tweet in the A Pillar. Do you think this would work?

    What about these from Hertz:

Thanks for your help in deciding!

If I were you, I'd put that JBL up for sale in the Marketplace here. Some Prius II owner will probably want an audio system that can be installed with the factory connectors.

I went all Hertz for my setup, but DLS Ultimate was one of the sets I was considering. You'll be happy with either set, but it depends on what external amplifier you're going to use and how you'll fine-tune the system.

What speakers you're going to put on the back? What about subwoofer?

Have not heard the DLS personally, but installed the HSK 163's and can highly reccommend them. The MS-8 appears to be a good product, but not sure they feed either speaker choice mentioned the power they like.

Not sure of the amp either, will these fit for the most part in as replacements to OEM?

Yes, however I used JL's HD900/5 amp. See my Album.

That 18W amp is not going to cut it for the power level component sets you are looking at. The 900/5 is a good choice if you have a sub too. Otherwise...look for a good 4ch amp with 100-150 RMS per channel to drive those speakers.

Personally I have the Boston Acoustics in my Titan...excellent speakers, but pricey.

Boston Acoustics PRO60SE 6-1/2" 2-way PRO Series Component System

I am looking at these for the Pri...anybody used these?

I listened to the JL C5-650's and liked them, just did not like Car toys enough to buy from them. I bet the three ways would be better. Will be interesting to see where you would put the 4" midrange? I did like a lot of people and replaced the 2 1/2 tweeter with a 3 1/2 speaker. Then ran components in the doors and pillars for the front stage. And a set of components in the back doors.

Hertz are very nice, and if you can find them Rainbow's CS 275.27 are real nice.

Decided to go with CL-6E32 by CDT audio. They appear to be about the same size so these should still fit in factory locations. What do you think?

Also does anyone have any experience with JBL MS-8? I was wondering if I should use the provided crossovers, or use the active crossovers within the MS-8? What do you think would be best? I will be using an amp so it will go like this:

    Kenwood DDX719 HU -----> JBL MS-8 ----->Alpine Amp ------>CL-6E32 3-way component speakers.

    What do you think?
