Low Rolling Resistance replacement tires: Current List

What is the lightest 15" replacement tire, it has probably been answered but 22 pages is a little too much to go through...Thank You!!! I just ordered the 15x7 Motegi Traklites

 

I just ordered a set of 205/55R16 Michelin Energy Savers. I'm very excited to try these out. I'm hoping that overall mpg will be close to my 15's. I just didn't like the lower profile 17" wheels & tires on the Prius for some reason. I also got a total of $376 in rebates from ATC!

I also ordered a set of Motegi MR125 16x7 +40mm offset wheels to wrap with the new Michelin tires. Also no sales tax since I ordered them in Oregon. :rockon:

 

Finally got them installed today! I love them!

 

F8L , how are the Avid Ascend tires treating you ? Thinking of purchasing these for a '11 Fit with the 5 speed auto to hopefully bump up the gas mileage , improve ride ( noise level ) and handling ( especially wet ) . The Fit is averaging about 35 since last April . Original tires are the Dunlop SP 31 A/S . Keep them at around 36 p.s.i.. Thanks .

We have nearly 60,000 miles on our Michelin
Energy Saver Tires, 195x65x15, 44 psi in all
four tires, 2-3 mpg increase over factory
avid yoko tires since new.

Tread life should last another 10,000 miles before
we need new tires.

 

The Energy Saver A/S are now back in-stock at Tire Rack. Discount Tire is also stocking them at many of their Southern CA locations for $99/tire.

I will be trading in my Primacy MXV4 for a new set of Energy Saver A/S on Tues. The Primacy MXV4 were on my car for 14,000 miles and still have 8/32" left. Although the sidewalls were a bit soft, handling and noise were a slight improvement over the OE tires. My main reason for the trade is the 5-10% hit in fuel economy over the OE tires.

Michelin made me an offer I could not refuse. They really went above and beyond to satisfy me and earn my loyalty.

I didn't know that they made 2 different tires. I asked for Energy Saver A/S but this is what I got. Are they the same for MPG?

 

I am not sure, but I would think they are fairly similar. The good news is that you are likely getting better traction since this is a summer tire.

My main concern would be the inability to use these tires in < 40F temperatures safely, which is an issue in your climate.

Ford dealers have $100 off . So , called a local parts department and can get the Avid Ascend for $97 each before deducting $25 of the $100 discount making them $72 each before tax . The mount and balance is $65 or a bit more . The Bridgestone were not part of the sale through Ford .

 

With the current gas prices with a 2-3 mpg increase with
the Michelin Energy Saver tires you will save about
$ 200.00 over the life of the tire, (65,000 - 70,000).

This is something to consider when buying tires. Remember
there is a good chance gas will be over $4.00 per gallon
for the next few years or so. When gas goes over
$5.00 per gallon (not if but when), you will save
even more money.

 

Not available in our size for a 2011 base model Fit . Same size as the "C" and 2012 Yaris . Maybe in time . Oh , the sale through Ford ends May 31st .
