Does anyone have access to a decoder ring for the Prius C VIN? I'm finding that some of the cars have a 5 or a 0 in the 6th from the right position, which has generally been the leftmost digit of the sequential id serial number. Anyone know why there would be a 5 over there on some cars? It doesn't appear to affect the sequence of the lower order digits, which have been climbing from sub 1000 to over 5000 over the past couple weeks.
odd.. yes.. that is usually apart of a the serial number.. everything else is the same with regards to decoding a VIN.. from it built in Japan, Toyota.. to the year of the car.. etc.. etc..
I wonder if the 500000 series are build on the line(s) that are doing the japanese aqua, but are doing some prius c's instead.
I do know I submitted my vin to progressive and it came back vehicle unknown. Progressive doesn't have the vin code in their system yet here in Illinois.
So what do you do in that case? Do you have to clear it up on the phone or go with another company? I have progressive and expect to close out my insurance before I leave the dealer, once my car comes in, whenever that is...
Ours came back as a Yaris with State Farm. They called their 800 number and fixed it in the system so that it is listed as a Prius c.
