Well, thanks for the push Spiderman and confirm from Rebound. I just ground the nubs off the stock Toyots adapter and tried different mounting positions on the Pioneer deck. I found an immediate alternate spot that was just about 1/2 cm away from the first. I did not think it was enough but tried it anyway and it was enough to get it to fit with the stock bezel (very firm fit) and I will need to add some filler under the deck since there is a little gap but I think that is pretty doable. Had to modify the Toyota side fillers that go with this bezel using a Dremel so it would not hit the rolled edge of the metal adapters. Also had to cut out some material to accommodate a screw that was securing the metal adapters to the HU. I still have more to do but I think I am pretty much in the clear. Will post photos when I have it in place.

    Thanks again !

I am trying to install the same stereo in my 2010 prius and everything works except steering wheel controls (company is sending me new adapter) and the car still thinks its on when it's not. I turn off the car and leave the car with the key fob and shut the door. Then hear one beep in car and 3 outside with error message displayed that key is not detected. This message never goes off and key fob will not lock door. any help? I have contacted every company and no one has been able to help. I put old stereo back in and it work and so does key fob

That is very odd, but I do recall someone having a similar problem. It might be in this thread or another. They did the same thing and pulled the HU out to fix whatever problem it was. In the end though, I don't think the HU was the problem but can't remember what it was. I will try to search it out...

Well I couldn't search up anything. Hopefully someone will see your other thread.

It would seem something is shorting out but I have a hard time believing that it would cause your car not to shutdown...

Just started searching here, but are the instructions on the first part of this thread applicable to the 2011 and 2012 also?

    Thanks!

2011 - 2 yes, 2012 nobody to my knowledge has checked-in as to whether it does. The 12 has a few more options to my understanding.

I have a 2012 mdl II, I will be upgrading my HU very soon, I'm buying the little things first, steering wheel control, dash bezel, things like that so I have them ready to go. I'm looking at the Pioneer P4400BH. I'm not doing the speakers at the same time, that will be next. I do have a set of JBL GTO928's for the front doors, but may change to Polk, just dont know yet. Once I hear the Pioneer on stock speakers then I know which way to go. And most likely sell off my Stock HU,

That will be great. Please keep an account of differences you find along the way.
Make sure if you upgrade the speakers either find speakers that match the 14w/ch RMS of the HU or get an amp rated for the new speakers. That was my big oversight.
If anyone knows of a kick-butt 4ch ~ 50w/ch RMS amp that is small enough to place in the dash area, let me know. thanks.

Spiderman, a Alpine MRX-F30 Foot Print (WxHxD) in: 9-7/8'' x 2-1/4'' x 9'' Per Channel, Ref: 14.4V, 4 ohms): 50W RMS x 4. dont know if you like Alpine, but they seems to be the smallest for clear sound.

ha, I had just Googled that very amp up. Years ago, Alpine was the only equipment I would buy. Will have to look into it, thanks.

I don't know the answer, but let's take it step by step:
    1) I doubt it's the standard harness connection, because that's just power, ground, and speakers. Nothing there that should mess you up.
    2) The steering wheel control doesn't work. That's my first clue. Let's review how that's wired up. Another thing: The car works properly when you remove the radio. So try plugging in the Pioneer without the SWI-JACK, and without reassembling the dash, see if the car will power on and off.
    3) If that works, let's trace thru the connections you made for the steering wheel controls, step by step
    4) If it doesn't work, let's look at your other special connections, such as reverse and parking brake.

Relax, it's fixable. Take a deep breath. You can do this.

tach18k, I have a Pioneer BT3200 in my Rav4, and although I was very happy with it on Day 1, I am not all that thrilled now...

When I first got it, it had no problem displaying artwork when an iPod was attached. Soon after I put the iPod/iPhone through an upgrade, this broke the system. I figured out that I could make it work by selecting a display that had no artwork.

Pioneer has no addressed this issue nor released a single firmware upgrade. It also took a lot of work just to figure out how to get the thing out of DEMO mode, in which it ships.

I was looking at Pioneer's new offerings, but I am genuinely afraid of buying from them again after the utter lack of support for the BT3200.

Just letting you know, good luck!

    Hi everyone,

First of all, thanks for all the info :)

I'm on Spain, Europe, I have a Toyota Prius 2010 (Gen III), model Executive, with standard head unit (not gps or touchscreen). I think it have JBL audio, but not sure. Anyone could confirm?

I want to change my head unit with this one:
"Erisin ES778A HD Car Radio 2 Color LED Button + Android 2.3 PAD"
Attached is the back of the Erisin ES778A with all connectors

I have readed all the thread and manuals but still I'm not sure of how to make the installation.

First of all I need to know the Parts List. Anyone could tell me what items I need? I'm looking for this features:
    - Do not cut/solder/bite any original cable, so I can de-install the new HU and install the original HU without any traze of modification (if possible)
    - Keep Steering Whell Control Buttons
    - Keep Aux 3.5 Jack on the central console (if possible)
    - Keep USB on the central console (if possible)

Second, any installation tip will be welcome.

Thank you very much for your help XD

    Best regards.

Welcome aboard! Very interesting HU. Just like all the rest of the HUs out there, you can install but it will require tapping into the car's wiring harness... so a little bit of a trace. Mainly in wiring the steering wheel controls.

You will need the double din bezel and likely fill pieces to finish the install.

What are the amplifier output specs for this unit?

Good luck and be sure to let us know who things go.

Thanks for your help and your welcome :)

It's sure I will need to tapping the car's wiring harness?
Could it be avoided with something like "Metra 2004-2010 Toyota Prius Radio Wire Harness" ?

What list of components do you think I will need?

I don't know the amplifier output specs, how could I find it?
I only know that Executive model of my Prius 2010 (Gen III) comes with 8 speakers

Thank again, and best regards :)

I have been looking a bit and I think I can avoid to tapping the car's original wiring harness (there is no problem in tapping non original wiring harness) with this two items:
    - Metra 71-8113
    - Metra 70-8113

What do you think about it?

    Thanks and best regards :)

Thanks, I am also looking at the Alpine IVE-W535HD, this is new and has not been released. It looks better than the Pio 4400,
Just holding out and see what it will be like.
