Simple question for a recent related topic to see how if it's a factory setting, or some savvy dealers mess with it before delivery.
As I recall reading, this is the only choice you have, driver's door opens only driver's door. Now if you touch the passenger side or the hatch, all doors will unlock. Sometimes I'll use that feature if I'm walking by the car on the passenger side. Otherwise, I have to either pull out the fob or manually unlock the doors after opening the driver's door. <_<
You can apparently go through the MFD diagnostic screen to change the behaviour to unlock all doors when you open the driver door.
No, through a certain combination of buttons on the fob, you can program it to unlock all doors when you grab the driver's door handle. That's how I have mine configured now. I don't have the instructions on me at present, but it is in the owner's manual.
Ah, here we go. A neighboring post has the instructions in it. http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=1...ndpost&p=171134
Thanks Brandon. I'm from Kansas too! I had found the info in the other chat and printed it out. Your was much friendlier than Isr/America or whatever, and much appreciated, thanks.
I am sorry you took offense to my answer. You asked a question which implied that you were unaware that the instructions for the dance to change the SKS defaults settings were in the owner's manual. I gave you an accurate answer. I was neither pontificating nor lecturing at you. Next time, I will make sure to go out to the car, get the manual and copy the relevant portions of the instructions for your benefit.
Here, I'll do it. Page 30: CHANGING THE DOORS TO BE UNLOCKED Each time you push the lock button together with the panic button on the smart key for about 5 seconds with the hybrid system off, the setting for door unlocking will change as follows: 1. Driver’s door unlocking mode: If you perform smart unlocking operation on the driver’s door, it will unlock. Performing unlocking operation on the front passenger’s door or back door will unlock all the doors. When the system switches to this mode, one beep sounds inside the vehicle and two beeps sound three times. 2. All doors unlocking mode: Performing smart unlocking operation on either front door or back door will unlock all the doors. When the system switches to this mode, one beep sounds inside the vehicle and two beeps sound twice. 3. Single door unlocking mode: The driver’s door or back door on which you perform smart unlocking operation will unlock. However, performing unlocking operation on the front passenger’s door will unlock all the doors. When the system switches to this mode, one beep sounds inside the vehicle and two beeps sound once.
I work for a Toyota dealership and I can tell you that all Toyota vehicles that we've recieved to-date with SKS have been driver's door only. The limited Avalon has it too.
I bet they all come driver's-door-only from the factory, but some dealers change it, either intentionally or inadvertantly.
i think my car was originally in driver unlock mode.. then i made it single unlock just to see.. and then i fell in love with all unlock.. so i left it at that. it's fun showing off this feature to non prius drivers
There should be another poll options: No, the driver's door unlocked only the driver's, although I DID change it. That's what I would've picked.
