    Hello all

Been browsing this forum on and off for a few years.

Am about to take the plunge but just wondering if the price I'm getting is good or not.

2012 Prius 4 - $27,400, plus title, registration, doc fees ($319) and sales tax. I guess out the door is approx. $29,700. I'll probably finance at the rate of 2.9%.

Also, I'm located in New England.

Thanks for any feedback and looking forward to finally owning a Prius after all these years of wanting one.

That's about what I paid. I don't have the exact figure, but it was just under 30,000

Depends on options, i.e. nav system, sun roof, etc.

Shop around and see what other dealers would charge for a car equipped the same way. If you belong to Costo give their buyers program a try.

You can get a price from Edmunds as well as other sites: New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews and Pricing - Edmunds.com

Hint: You probably already know this, but do not buy a maintenance plan or an extended warranty. They will try very hard to sell you these things because they make a lot of money from them, just say no.

or at the very least get the extended warranty from Troy here on the forums.
I did get the extended warranty, and I am still sort of on the fence, but I think I'll keep it. There are a lot of electronics and computers on the car, and I'm not a mechanic. i'd like to take it in, hand them the key and say 'fix it' and give me a loaner until it's ready. Also I figured that it has towing to the nearest dealer, which saves me on the upgraded AAA membership, a savings of at least $100/yr. So that's $800 right there (8 years)

Also check out the USAA car buying program if you qualify.

I just bought a 2012 Prius 3 with Navigation, Bluetooth, backup camera, enhanced HD radio for $25200 plus tax. This is in Kansas City if that makes a difference. I know you are looking at a 4, but thought you could compare. I don't have leather in my car or a sunroof.

Are you speaking about the Prius liftback or the Prius C? The reason I ask is your info is listed as Prius C.

I had a dozen dealers provide quotes and then tried to "squeeze" 3 of the best quotes I got back. Best I could do for the IV with mats was $27711 before TTL and $29937 OTD. Good luck.

    Thanks for the reply all.

I'm getting the Prius 4 in basic. As in, not the solar package. Doesn't the basic come with Navigation, anyway??? I know the navigation that comes with the solar package is higher quality but I don't mind. It's very important for me to have leather, which is why I definitely have to get the Prius 4.

I'm trying to get the guy to come down another $500 to $26,900 +doc fees, title/reg and taxes but he's not making it easy.

At this rate, I am so tired of shopping for cars.

I feel we just got a very good deal on a Prius three in Atlanta at $24,740 and no dealer doc fees.

Just quoting myself for further advice.

I received a better offer of a Prius 4. MSRP is $29,329 and it will cost me $26,200, plus $399 doc fees, $150 title/reg and taxes ... out the door will be just under $28,500. Now I'm thinking that it's too good to be true.

Anything I should look at/question before I sign on the dotted line??? :scared:

Wow! You got over $3,000 taken off of the car??? I just bought a Prius 4 yesterday with sunroof/nav/softex seats/blizzard pearl and only got about $1,400 off and got them to increase my trade-in amount by $1,800 from their initial offer. My out the door price was $31,849 (not including trade-in) where MSRP was $33,250. Sounds like you got a really great deal!

I know you said "out the door" at just under 28500, but don't forget your sales tax. Isnt CT like 6 or 8%? Don't want you to be suprised when you get to the dealer and the total due is $1700+ more.
