Does anyone know if the Performance Plus Package is a factory or port installed option? I have a Prius ordered with it and am just curious.
Ok thanks. My dealer preferenced one for me and it didn't show on there mid month allocation. Just wondering cause they may try to locate one assigned to another dealer and trade for it in transit to speed the process if possible. Just curious how it worked.
I think that is what they meant. I just said it wrong. . Waiting on this thing is gonna kill me. It may show on there first allocation sheet for April and it may not matter.
That's what I was told last weekend on my order. Now someone tell us where this Port Installation center is. I don't get why options are not put on the cars on the factory assembly line. I was told it could take 6 months to get my car if we did a factory order. It would only take 6-8 weeks if we did what the original poster was speaking of on his Five order. Mike
Update on my order. My dealer swapped another dealer in the region a 5 they had coming in there allocation and are capturing it at the port to have the PPP added and a couple other small items. So it is a port installed item. Should know by this week when it will be here roughly when it is switched in the computer system to my dealer. Hope it isn't to much longer.
WE0H. The location of the port depends on your region I believe. I think each region has there own port. My regions port is in Chicago I have been told. I work for Toyota at the KY assembly plant building Camry/Venza/Avalon and it is a big under taking each time more options are added to a vehicle. Floor space alone is a big issue to have the parts line side to install.
Sounds like I will be in your shoes this week with the swapping around to get my car here. Bet the wait is buggin the hell out of you I know I have been going nuts waiting  Mike
Yeah. It's kinda nerve racking. Just always wondering if the dealer is really working on it or not but my dealer called me to tell me they had located one so I am assuming they did. I will feel a lot better when I have a better idea of when it will be here.
You know it will be worth the wait rather than just doing what most do, and buy what's on the lot. My dealer said it would be easier if I chose a car on the lot or was flexible on options, but would be more than happy to order/locate one if I didn't mind the wait. I'd rather have exactly what my mind is set on. What color you getting? Where is that Camry plant in relation to Lexington or Louisville? I have been down there a lot but haven't specifically looked for the factory, yet Mike :tea:
I am getting Blizzard Pearl with dark gray interior. The plant is in Georgetown about 15 to 20 miles from Lexington. They have tours all the time. You should go. . It's quite amazing actually.
Oh that town sure does sound familiar. I better check with the wife in the morning and see if we have been there. Blizzard Pearl, yes that is one heck of a fancy color. That is my #1 choice. Sea Glass Pearl is my #2 color. I really like that Sea Glass but my eye's were set on Blizzard Pearl since I seen it in 2010. With the interior, I was set on dark gray until I rented a Prius last February which had the Misty Gray and then I sat in a Four which had the Misty Gray Softex interior. Holy crap that color in that material was freakin saweet. I am sold on Misty Gray now Mike
I just went with the dark to hide dirt if I ever get it dirty. We had a Pearl Venza and I have loved that color ever since. Are you getting the PPP on yours?
Oh you bet I am getting the full balls to the walls Plus Performance Package I see you are doing just that also :thumb: I wouldn't have it any other way. This car is replacing my current summer car which is a Ion Redline Competition. I had to have another car that handled well coming from the IRL. You know the only reason I didn't want a Five was those headlamp squirters & not being able to have the Solar Roof on a Five I don't see how the squirters would be of any use. It'd be like running the windshield squirters without using the wipers. The bugs are still gonna be glued on without a wiper scraping them away I looked up Georgetown and yes I have been thru there many times and didn't know how close I was to the Camry plant. Sucks now and I don't know when I will be having a trip back down there. I will for sure tell the wife about it as we would love to go on the tour. Maybe she can schedule a meeting in KY once school is out for the summer so we can take our son along. The plant looks freaking huge on the Google Sat pics. A test track on the west side... Cool Mike
Oh I have been on the test track. It's like Daytona. Bout 30 degree banks in the curves. They take the cars around there bout 80 miles an hour. Sucks you right into the seat. I wanted the solar roof on mine but for me I would use the DRCC more for I drive on the interstate every day for here to Georgetown. Thats what it came down to.
Obviously your wanting the SR is the real reason, not the headlight squirters. You can always pull the fuse to them if they're useless where you live.
The wife & I talked about that DRCC option but in the end she said it is my car so I decide what I want and I better get it right or she'd remind me that I screwed up I seen some Solar roof Prii last February up close and my son & I made the decision that daddy needs that option. So the Three or Four was the only choice. The 7.1 audio system being available only in the Four & Five turned that choice into the Four. Then I sat in a Four Misty Gray and was sold that very moment I do want to hear if the car follows the painted line to the T even if the lines weave around The wife & I joked around about that on trips when we seen construction zones with painted lines going toward walls and other places scary I know a person wouldn't be sleeping and running on autopilot but it'd be interesting to hear if it does indeed follow those lines until the driver over rides it.
