I cleaned my daughters throttle body on her 2005 prius . sprayed it down on the vehicle trying to fix my P0505 code and now its idling high is there a learn procedure to reset this after service.
Check to see if there are any air leaks below the throttle plate assembly, for example a loose PCV hose, a loose or missing engine oil cap or engine oil dipstick, etc. Did you contaminate the mass air flow sensor with throttle body cleaning fluid? If yes, then you'll need to remove the MAF sensor and use MAF cleaner spray to clean that part.
I pulled the filter box off so no i didnt contaminate the maf . but i was going to clean that next . i actually put a hose clamp on the pcv hose a few days ago thinking a vacuum leak was my problem for my p0505 code . But no dice light came on again which led me to throttle bottle cleaning. I just thought i read something about doing a learn procedure for idle speed after performing throttle bottle cleaning but i cant find it .
You could also try disconnecting the 12V battery negative cable where it bolts to the body of the car for several minutes, to give the engine ECU (and all others) a chance to power down and reset. I am not aware of a specific maintenance procedure that would allow you to adjust idle speed.
I had same problem. I thought I'd contaminated the MAF sensor with choke cleaner (should've done more reading!), but when I pulled the battery cable for ten minutes and restarted my Prius, all was well. Whew. Thanks very much, Patrick and walleye seeker!
Any MPG increase after cleaning? I have a high idle too now. Going to reclean the MAF sensor and reset the battery.
