My first post as an "official" Prius owner. I've been reading PriusChat since early 2009 when the Gen III car was announced. I read everything I could on the car (including SAE papers!) and followed the experiences of everyone on this site. Waited for the 2012 "refresh" to see what changes they would make, e.g., indicators on side mirrors. But then, along came the redesigned Camry and the Prius v. So many choices. The Prius v was the "sweet spot" for me - got a Clear Sky w/ATP several weeks ago. Still learning how to drive the car and haven't even gotten to the HDD Navigation unit yet. Wanted to wait until I got my first fillup before I posted so I would have some idea how I was doing. Well, my first fillup (it left the dealer lot full) gave me 518 mi and a computed 49.6 mpg! We're rolling, baby, were rolling! P.S. I really appreciate all the great contributors to this site. Tons of great information.
That's the way I feel also, all in. Got my v 5 w/atp March 3rd. you're getting great mileage for a v. I am averging 44 mpg here in UT with temps between 40 to 50 and 42 lbs tire pressure.
Yes, I was very happy with the mileage on that first tank. The weather has been high 70's-low 80's much of the time so that helped. My psi is still at 34/33 but I do plan to up it.
Hey we got the same Prius v. I'm loving everything about it, especially the 7 inch display. I normally have it in split screen mode with map and millage information. I was totally set on the Clear Sky Metallic color and got it. Bonus feature that I love is how it can change from silver to light blue under different lighting situations/angles. Let us know how it changes color for you. I really like keeping track of MPGs on fuelly.com. It gives back in the sense that others can see real world MPG stats for all the different vehicles out there. Also, the car reported MPG tend to be a little inflated. I'm finally getting summer (above EPA) MPG stats as opposed to winter (below EPA) stats. I'm used to this swing from my wife's Gen II 2008 Prius. Don't forget to play with the driver seat height adjuster lever. Pump it up or down 4 times to see how it changes the height and pitch/angle of the driver seat. Can make a real difference in comfort and visibility.
Hey Chazz8! When I saw your avatar I thought, Oh Yes, we are going to be trading some emails. Yup, Clear Sky was the only color for me. Fortunately, I found it at a local dealer w/ATP. I am just starting to learn the HDD unit and still have to try ECO and PWR modes to see if I prefer them over NORMAL. The weather has been warm here and I have been deliberately driving for mpg. Yes, I am on Fuelly (but it doesn't show up yet since I have only 1 fillup) and hope to get the signature line graphic to show up. Also have to add the avatar pic. So much to learn! Thanks for the tip on the seat.
