    Hello, I'm newbie here deciding to book a 2012 PRIUS.

    I would be very much appreciated if anyone can post some cool photos of their 2012 Prius in Nautical Blue Metallic ( Code 8S6 ) or point me to any link so that I can have a look.

    I saw one last weekend. It's darker than the 10/11 dark blue (forgot the name).

    The nautical is a dark navy blue color. No pics sorry :)

    I know it's not hard to look for photo, but the photos from the net, mostly from car dealers, seems to be of lower quality and showing different shades and looks different in each of the photo.

    There's no ready stock in Malaysia for this colour and the waiting is 3 months. I thought if I can have a look at a higher resolution and accurate coloration of the actual car, I can be more confident with my choice.

    Hence, please share and post if you own a 2012 Prius in Natical Blue Metallic. Much appreaciated !

    I noticed after I posted that you were in Malaysia and likely not able to visit a large dealership where they may have that color. Sorry about that.

    Sorry that I didn't mention it in my previous post. We have dealership here but I don't know why they don't import bright Color like blue and red. Thanks anyway for the reply, appreciated.

    I just noticed that if you visit "toyotareference" site, and click on any color name under Prius section, a sample of photos of that particular color will pop up under the color name for you to scroll through. Pretty nifty if you are comparing which color to get, though not in hi res .. Hope tis helps.

    Actually there's a good reason for that Albert. I own one. On a bright sunny day it looks like a deep, royal blue. On cloudy days it looks black until you're right up on it.

    It is a pretty color tho.....

    Yes, for 2010-2011 it's Blue Ribbon Metallic (8T5)
    But for 2012 Toyota change the blue colour to Naitical Blue Metallic (8S6) which is a darker.The name of the colour may varies for countries but the coding stays the same, which refers to the same colour.

    In Malaysia it's refer as Dark Blue Mica (8S6) for 2012 Prius.

    Click on the name of the colour and it will pop up with some photos showing that particular colour Prius, which is quite nifty IMHO for those deciding Prius exterior colour.

    I got a Nautical Blue 2012 in late Feb. It's one of those types of metallic paint that gives a different color depending upon the amount and angle of light reflecting off it.

    Yea, those are pretty awesome colors as I had a Acura awhile back that was called Nighthawk & appeared black but in the sunlight it'll be blue metallic if u looked close, I always thought that was unique & showed it off to all my friends & whoever else that would look;).

    A week ago I got one of this same color. It seems like the dealership was willing to come down more on this color than other exact vehicles with different colors they had in stock. Wonder why that would be. Do they think it doesn't sell as well?

    Maybe they're tired of washing the thing! :)

    I own one and have to say the only downside to the dark color is it really shows off dirt! I bought new, clean, car washing gear within two weeks of buying mine.

    true...it does show the dirt. But a little dust and dirt doesn't hurt the paint like winter time stuff can so I don't mind having a slightly dirty looking car :)

    As a recent owner of a Nautical Blue Metallic Prius Two, the Pilot Water Blade has become my new best friend. ;)

    I almost bought the Blue Metallic when I bought our new 2012 back in February. It had just came a really nasty rain with a lot of dust mixed in the night before, and all the cars on the lot were dirty. My wife loved the blue , but we ended up with the Red, we are pretty partial to red. Both of the colors seemed to show dirt about evenly. We made the deal on the car, and they sent it around to be serviced and washed, when it came back around to the front , it truly was the cleanest car on the lot.
    I think you will be happy with the blue, it is a very nice color.:rockon:
